We've had Bianco Romano granite in our kitchen since 2004. Love, love, love it still. We did Bianco carrra subway tile on our backsplash. We're happy with that choice too. I have never resealed my granite and nothing affects it, I swear. I have car waxed it a couple times :+) Photo link on request.

We recently had the same issue... and pulled the trigger on the tile order, but don't have pics yet. We used a combo of 2x2s and subways in tumbled travetine, with trantrium-like 2x2s in (clear and dark brown) spotted randomly troughout the 2x2 area. There was already a lot of contrast between our espresso cabinets and the granite, so I needed to keep the backsplash subtle - but I still wanted a little bling! I like the mosaic look over the range, but we had only 30" wide and anything we designed seemed to close that space in. The plan is for the dotted glass tiles to "float" up the wall. Thank you all for weighing in on this question. buddyrose: thanks for supplying the link to more kitchen photos. You're right, there are few kitchens shown that do use a dark sink with light granite. It's been hard finding any visuals. Sarah: I should have mentioned that SS is the one sink I don't want. Maybe the quality has changed since my days of SS sink, but I hated the ones I grew up with. Sweeby: Thanks for posting the other viewpoint that it 'could' be a good look. phaze: Thanks for finding the pictures of light granite with dark sinks. It helps too that some of them have dark cabinets to boot. You're good! I came up mostly empty handed when I searched. Nice to hear you are making a 'design choice' to use the dark sinks with your light granite. It is good to know I'm not alone in the thinking. Now for the 'rest-of-the-story' which I didn't want to post in case it influenced responses: This isn't so much a case of wanting matchy-match as liking balance and probably #1 reason is that I'm trying to be prudent. 4 years ago we were going to do a mini reno, paint the cabinets white (no kidding they were mint green-came with the house), add dark countertops & the black undermount sink. We painted the cabinets and bought the sink. The reno stalled. Fast forward to present day. It is no longer a mini reno. New dark cabs, light counters, BUT, the previously purchased black sink still sits in the basement, along with the faucet set I no longer want to use. The practical cost-counting side of me says, 'You've bought it..use it'. However having said that, I can likely recoup some of the $$ by selling it Craig's List style and what is a few hundred dollars more in the grand scheme of things? Design wise, I think I'd still like the look of the dark sink, but not if it is going to look like a big black hole in the stretch of counter. On the other hand, it might just fit right in and end up looking neutral because of the quantity of black I will already have. Anyway, now you know why it is a bit of a bigger deal for me to decide which choice to make. Thanks, I do appreciate hearing all comments.

If the guy won't show you other slabs, go someplace else. Stick to your guns, it's way too much money not to get exactly what you want. There are a few burgundy specks in my Bianco Romano, not really pink. I was very worried about too much "pink" in my slab too. It all depends on the slab. The sample I was given had lots of dark, almost black, graining in it, and the slab I chose did, too. But when the slabs were installed there is very little dark graining in it, and lots of lighter graining with a definite bluish hue. Not exactly what I was expecting, and I was somewhat disappointed. It doesn't really "go" with the backsplash nor the island slab. They insist they installed the right slabs, but I'm convinced it wasn't the one I chose. I needed 3 slabs of Bianco Romano for my perimter counters, and was told they were the same "slices".
