Anyone--traded books or ??? at Amazon for Gift cards?

I have about 6 sets of Harlequin American Romance books (2014) that I want to get rid of them. I started buying books on Amazon. I called Amazon and in talking with their reps, decided t trade them for Amazon Gift cards. Anyone do this and how much did you get?

Hi marle: We usually sell our old stuff on eBay. Local people came and pick up our old crib, fireplace logs, etc. ... that's all through advertisement through eBay. We buy toys for my kids through eBay. Amazon is less popular for used stuff, most people want it brand new through Amazon.

I haven't done that , but I'm thinking about doing it. I've heard they pay well for text books, and they also buy dvd's, games, etc. I think they offer to pay very small amounts for some things and more than you would expect for others (you enter the ISBN # and to find out what they pay). Amazon pays for the postage to send them your items and to return anything they reject, so it seems to me you have nothing to lose. I really need to try this, maybe I can get rid of some of the books I don't need or want anymore.

That is how I have my DS Kindle set up - I didn't want it tied to my account, so I just bought him an Amazon card (they actually have Kindle ones, but any Amazon card works). I bought a $25 one from the grocery store - no fees. Check with your local library too! I can "check out" books from my local library, down load them via Amazon for free. I get to keep them on the Kindle for 2 or 3 weeks and they they take them off. In Iowa it is called WILBOR - and it works GREAT!!! I use my library card number to check them out, but I do it from my home computer.

"For family in Australia, I picked a nice store in the area after doing research online. Then emailed the store asking how to buy and send a gift card. I ended up charging the gift card on my credit card, and the store sent the card directly to the recipient." +1! You can also shop on line at many stores and have them send the gift out, sometimes by their own truck. Even fresh food picnic baskets, of all things. Beats those vague "gift" cards and beats Amazon hands down. We did this with a case of wine from Harrod's. E Z P Z.

To maximize savings on ordinary grocery items start watching deal sites like couponing couple and southern savers. They link sales with printable coupons. Drug stores have better deals than Target on toiletries. Sheets will all get marked down during the month of January. Buy them then if that's what you are leaning towards. Target has lots of regular items with Xmas packaging-sometimes subtle that gets mixed in with regular items and people don't realize it's clearanced. I bought an entire shopping cart of Puffs tissue double packs last year for 29 cents instead of $2.99. Foil and scotch tape too are good finds.

I just received a gift today, a pet supplement that seems to be some kind of practical joke that I have not taken well! I thought it might be a random promotion gone wrong, but Amazon told me it was sent by a person and not a company. They would not give any more details. The only option left that I can see is to deactivate my Amazon account and return any future Amazon deliveries to me unopened, with 'not known at this address' on them, because I will know that they are not something I have ordered. I asked the Amazon chat help person to send this comment to the sender so they don't bother sending me anything else via Amazon. I also asked them to share it with Amazon management but they didn't say anything about that. There is no option to block gifts, i.e. to only received deliveries from Amazon that you have ordered. They need this option in case someone is being harassed, which, in this case, I believe I am. It should be relatively easy to block orders not from your own account, but they said they can't do this.

I have not sold back any BOOKS, but I DID sell back an XBOX 360.. It was in PRISTINE condition amd had been purchased FROM them (which is why they solicited me to ask if I wanted to sell it back) and I had all parts, instructions, etc.. They quoted me a price, but when the system arrived at their facility, they sent me a revised price MUCH MUCH MUCH lower.. I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Amazon...am a Prime member and have been buying from them since the early years when they often included a little gift in the box (lile a pack of Post-It notes or similar) but I was extremely disappointed in this transaction.

I have bought several things from Amazon, and so far am happy, especially with my new Epson printer. Ebay doesn't work for me due to the fact where I live it would be difficult for people to come here I am in an assisted living complex. and not sure if they would even allow me to sell locally.

I've never sold books back to Amazon, but I've been selling used books on Amazon (to Amazon customers) for years. You can usually get more money for them that way--assuming they sell. But if you're happy with the deal you made with Amazon, that's great. As my son says, getting something out of the house and getting some money for it, is a win-win situation.
