Cold snap - how did you fare?

3 nites ago the temp went down to 34 according to the forecast, but my community garden is in a big open space, and is always colder than in the city or suburb where buildings break up the wind.

So I knew to protect my seedlings, but I missed some. I use a row cover. I must have left some exposed, cuz they looked shriveled in the morning.

However I think they will recover.

A tomato plant (not WS, I had bought one) was totally gone. Some marigold plants (bought) were touched by frost, but I planted them, hoping it is just the leaves, and that the roots are ok.

Last night first they forecast 40 for a night-time low, then they changed the low to 37. So on my way out to dinner, I rushed to the garden and covered all the containers.

I hope that is the last nite I have to cover them. Altho temps are still ten degrees below average for my area. :(
