it doesnt matter if anything is attacking the leaves now .. its what caused such severe stress that the leaves were damaged.... allowing for some secondary thing to come along ... we must define the primary issue.. not the secondary issue ... it looks like severe lack of water ... take a hand trowel ... and dig 3 or 4 holes close around the plant.. down 6 inches or so.. and find out about moisture at root level ... and then water accordingly ... did you bare root the plants at planting.. did you do anything about winding roots.. if any ... it really doensnt matter that its twin.. a few feet away is doing fine.. other than that one is probably getting enough water to its roots ... after perfecting water ... thats what its going to look like for the rest of the season.. then it will lose its ugly leaves... but all should be well in spring ... but for whatever ma nature throws at it during winter.. but we sure dont want it going into winter dry ... ken

@ken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5 I manure all plants, particularly new build beds that have no amendments or nutrients. Considering that the builders treat the beds as trash heaps (we're pulling concrete and misc materials out all the time), there's nothing good in starting a new garden. We'll remove the current mulch (sending it to the backyard where we have no landscaping and let it die into the group, lay new soil, manure, and seaweed pellets (we have sandy and clay soil in the same bed). Thanks for the positive vibes on the rhododendron azalea. I'm excited to see it blooms - the colors are vibrant particularly for a new bed with young plants. They'll be the pre-crape myrtle color we'll need to kick off the season.
