Pollination strategy advice

My gardens are pretty bee-friendly. I also get a lot of wasps, butterflies, you-name-it. For years I have had flowering plants such as echinacea, monarda, buddleia and others that bees really groove on. I like that.

But I also grow veggies and I want to encourage our little buzzing buddies to frequent my tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, zucchini et al as well.

Question: should I intermingle flowering plants with the veggies to get them as close as possible to each other, or is just being in the same garden good enough? I often wonder when attractive flowering plants and veggies co-exist will the bees chose one over the other or are they omnivores?
