Love liver! Ugh on turnips or parsnips

Is that something one is willing to eat? Or refuses? Of normal American food which I'm not allergic to, brussels sprouts are what I won't eat. Way too much sulphur to sneak it past my nose. Something I don't like to eat but will in a pinch is olives.

Liver, lamb, lentil soup, and lima beans.

Meat and fowl.

Fish with a lot of little bones. Stewed tomatoes. I don't like stringy things or mushy ones. (Do you see a 'mouth feel' thing going on here?) I love all kinds of liver unless it's overcooked. I love chops and leg of *lamb*, but not mutton. Venison is too 'strong' for me. I like lentils and lima beans, but only tiny new peas. OK with pickled beets. Not OK with most root vegetables.

I am not opposed to the taste of liver if someone else will cook it. But, for the most part I'm not interested in organ meats including the tripe my father in law used to serve.

Pulling back to things we might find served at a friends or commonly in kitchens, I'm not crazy about the combination of fruit and meat. Sweet and sour, pineapple glazed chicken or ham, pineapple on pizza, pasticada (beef stewed with plums), even my sisters killer raisin sauce for ham ;) Pass me the salad, I'll skip the entree.

Citrus fruit with chicken or seafood I do like.

Any part of an animal although I can still eat grilled fish filets, lima beans, mashed potatoes, bananas, biscuits, anything made with soup from a can, boiled greens, overcooked mushy vegetables, oversalted vegetables, canned vegetables...I am getting so picky...:-)

I've never had tripe and would like to, sometime.

I'm with Fun regarding canned or overcooked vegetables.....I'll pass, thanks.

I cannot abide okra, not in any form, not in any recipe, not disguised in gumbo or soups, no, not even how your mama used to fix it, lol.

No liver or other organs. I will eat deep fried chicken gizzards. Hummus, the only way I like beets so far is as chips I like root vegetables chips. Cooked beets no way. No caviar. No goose liver,I don't care what fancy names you give it. Hogs head cheese. Seaweed.

Mayonnaise

Ii enjoy a lot of foods people other hate. I love liver. But I hate bread pudding, stuffing, dressing, anything with wet bread. Again, it's the "mouth feel", not taste.

The several times that this topic has come up, I've been so interested in the differences in our tastes, our strong likes and dislikes of certain foods.

I thought of the other thing I'll never eat again, having tried it many different ways: octopus!

Something they used to serve when I was in college called "Mock Duck". It is a stuffed rouladen dish. Most vile thing ever. And most processed foods. (the thought of KD makes me want to hurl!) Other than that, there isn't much I don't like. Love liver and onions, tongue when cooked right is fantastic, "prairie oysters", all fish, beef, lamb and pork and fowl meats. (as long as it isn't cooked in a Rouladen) I like all veggies, cheeses, eggs. I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to food.

Feta cheese and all strong cheeses, organ meats except chicken livers, most fish that have bones when they are served.

Polish sausage, liver-never tried it but "know" I don't like it. Olives, sauerkraut, pickles, poached eggs, sushi, & tamales.

Cilantro, okra and lima beans. I tried escargot years ago and fell in love with it!

Okra? Ick! Also ick are green peppers. Both are 'slimy/soapy' in the mouth. L'escargot are good due to the the garlic butter. The snails are a pretty bland 'vehicle' for the seasoning. DH and I have aversions to canned veggies that go back to childhood. My grandmother also cooked all the nourishment out of fresh vegetables, and her pastry could choke a horse. (No 'light touch' in her.)

Yogurt. I wish I liked it--I tried when I was pregnant and having morning sickness. Every one of my kids loves it, so I've had ample opportunity to try it again through the years. Still don't like it.

I won't eat meat, bell peppers (ever!) or raw tomatoes. I can do cooked tomatoes if they are processed into sauce, like tomato soup or marinara, but nothing with large chunks of tomatoes, though I can often eat around them. No raw tomatoes in any form, yuck.

Saurekraut.....this coming from a German too. I love both green and red cabbage but kraut has a horrid smell and taste to me.

Other than that, I will eat anything that doesn't eat me first.

Cilantro is one of those funny love/hate ingredients. I love it. At a Las Vegas restaurant I once asked for some extra, and the server probably thought he was being funny by bring me an entire bunch. He had a surprised look on his face when he returned at the end of the meal, and all that remained were the stems.

Won't try escargot, raw oysters - both related to slugs - ugh. I felt that way about trying mussels until i became friends with someone who has a mussel farm and now I love them (and get them farm fresh whenever I want).

I'm going to add lutefisk to my 'never again' list. It's not so much the bones, it's the LYE. Amazing to think life was ever so awful that this was 'a treat'.

Beets, olives, and bleu cheeses due to taste factor. Raw oysters, for texture (I'll eat them in chowder, so cooked is fine). For health reasons, I can't eat goat cheese. I love cheese, it's just that one, makes my tongue tingly. Better not try it again!

Escargot are ok as long as they're not overcooked.

It really makes me laugh when people say, ick, no! to organ meat, but to eat muscles is just fine. What makes one ok and the other not? HA! Don't think too hard about it being muscles (and fat).

Kimchee. I bought some because it is supposed to be low calorie and high in b vitamins. Yuk!
