Something fishy in my neighborhood mail...
Comments (42)HA!!! Mystery solved!!! I got home about a half hour ago from a late night Wal-Mart run (got sunburned to hell driving with my cars top down all the way to Miami and back on Saturday and I needed some Aloe with Lidocaine... regular wasn't helping) Anyway... I got home and stuck out the bait envelope, though no one was around and I didn't expect any activity tonight. Well, I changed and put my magical blue potion on... and I set about getting the cat inside for the night. Looked out back, looked out front... out back... back to the front and wouldn't ya know... someone is walking briskly away from my yard... twas a guilty walk. So I start calling excuse me... and no response... I start briskly following (in PJ pants from Christmas, a tank top from middle school and fuzzy slippers). Down the street I go... I have no shame. Finally they stop and I see that its a girl that lives three houses down from me, the mentally handicapped girl that lives three doors down. *sigh* Well, she had the envelope. She told me she had been taking them and apologized. Here's the deal... she walks all day every day in the same pattern, over and over and over again... we all know it... and we're all used to seeing her walk around all the time (she's up before me in the morning and goes til dusk). So I didn't think much about it since she's harmless and is always around. She used to leave my boyfriend pictures and drawings all the time, she's sweet... just a bit off. I'm not sure what exactly her situation is, never cared to ask... I just take it as it is. I work with autistic children, so I have patience for special needs individuals. She found one of my envelopes one day because the mailbox was open, she knew that it had bubbles inside and likes to pop them. So she took it home. Then she kept coming back and checking for more. She says that she kept all the seeds and notes, and that she'll return them along with the envelopes tomorrow. I trust she will, and I'm going to speak with her older brothers that take care of her. She was very sorry, so I'm not going to report her... just make sure she understands she can't do that. Not the outcome I expected, but hopefully all my missing things will be returned to me and I can get the stuff sent out that I couldn't. Some people I already replaced the missing seeds for, and some I didn't have anymore of the type in question to replace with. So there we go... my thief was an innocent bubble popper gone wrong. Kim PS... she started to cry when I told her we'd have to talk to her brothers about it, she doesn't want to get in trouble. I'm going to make sure that she isn't, and I'm also going to take her some bubble wrap I have leftover from a recent ebay purchase. Hopefully this will mark the end of the seed heist era....See MoreUPDATE: Neighborhood Clean Out Your Garden Swap #3

Comments (23)Hi All! Yes, I am begining to re-understand about particular style homes. There had been a beautiful mid century modern ranch in our area for sale a few years ago that needed sprucing up inside to bring it back to it's original 50's grandure. The architect on the outside was just amazing! I know the price started high due to it being so unusual. I guess the owner and REagent thought there was a market for it in "Colonial Haven". Well it sat there for ever and the price just kept on dropping. Had I not moved to were I am I might have considered it at the fire sale price it was even though it was too small for us. I also remember a Frank Lloyd Wright ranch home for sale in lower Farfield Co., CT, just after we bought our home. That had a tough time selling (his rooms are pretty small). It wasn't going anywhere until the agent realized he had to specialize the advertising and target the correct buyers. I forgot how long it was on the market and what it eventually sold for though. Thank you all for reminding me that I DO have something different and not everyone is as enamoured with a ranch as I am. I guess you might say "Ranch people are a rare breed!!!!" ;) Well, back to my boxing and sprucing!! One thing I was happy about though was none of the agents thought we needed staging and were happy with the way I decorated (it did take me till this move to finally find my style!). Felt really great about that since when we were selling our last home (THE COLONIAL!) the word "dated" came around a few time and I cringed! We ripped out perfectly good wall to wall and painted brown trim white. Funny thing, I had a brief though of doing that from the begining when we first bought the house, but the carpeting was in wonderful shape, plus I am from the wall to wall generation and I really did find it to be warm and comfortable, ( an aside for the younger generation - growing up the the 50's hard wood floors ment your family was poor since only the well off people had wall to wall, plus it did make your home feel warmer and you didn't have to deal with all those dust bunnies!!!) and the brown molding was great because all you had to do was dust it, there was no upkeep! As soon as we ripped out the carpet, had the floors sanded and painted the trim, the house looked amazing and we kicked ourselves for not doing it earlier. (hence I now am with it and have beautifully sanded wood floors, area carpets and white trim!)...See MoreAdvice on house for sale
Comments (26)I went to the listing website and there is no description of your home whatsoever. The Zillow ad has more detail than the listing. I don't know much about pricing in your area, but if it's not selling, you may want to consider a 10K price decrease or more get you into the under $250K range. It's tough for first timers or alot of people to qualify for your price range. Have you advertised on Military by owner dot com? I think that's the address. I paid to advertise our house on there even though dh isn't in the service anymore. We advertised there b/c there is a base in Tucson, so we thought we could attract soldiers from that. Turns out, we didn't get any lookers from it, but you may since you're an area with more bases. As for your photos, I didn't see the original 35 pics. Is there hardwood in the dining room under that area rug? The DR looks very cluttered and busy to me. If there is hardwood under there, remove the rug and showcase it. Even if there isn't, the rug envelopes the room and makes it look too small. Additionally, the table setting makes the room look even more busy. The little 'storage boxes' on the shelving unit are a hint to me that there is no storage space. The master bed, child's room and kitchen photos all look like photos of the things in the room rather than the room and thus, make all the rooms look very small....See Morefishymom
