Is there something wrong with my jade plant?
Comments (2)It is difficult to say what the problem is because your plant looks ok in the photos you posted. I don't see any yellowing leaves. Few brownish spots in the last pic look like some mechanical damage that has scabbed over. Are there any other leaves you are concerned about? If so, pls. post a clear close-up photo. Brownish and dry spots could develop from oedema, that is a physiological disorder, not a disease. It doesn't kill the plant, but signals that plant is taking in more water than it can transpire. Sometimes, oedema looks like a hard pimple. Spots or bumps could be both on the leaves. Proper amount of water will solve the problem. Affected leaves will not revert back, and picking them off will not help - actually, it is better just to leave them. They will be eventually replaced as they get old (it may take a while...) There are fungal diseases and even virus that could develop on jades. Black ring virus spots usually appear on underside of leaves. Powdery mildew, botrytis and anthracnose are fungal diseases that could be treated with the antifungal sprays. I am not sure if your plant has any of these, but I do not think so. It looks like there are quite a few stems/individual plants in the pot?...See MoreIs there something wrong with my coleus plant
Comments (6)It's from an invisible fungal pathogen that might be from any of several genera - Rhizoctonia, Pythium, Phytophthora, and Fusarium being the top candidates ...... might as well include Botrytis, too. Necrotic (dead) areas on leaves and stems are only symptoms which indicate the disease is at work. If the creamy white coloration on the leaves isn't a genetic trait, it's likely a symptom of what plants do during the resorptive phase of leaf abscission (shedding). During this phase, the plant reclaims (think 'recycles') mobile nutrients and other biocompounds for use elsewhere in the plant. Example: Magnesium (Mg) is central to the chlorophyll (a green pigment) molecule and easy for the plant to reclaim. When the Mg is removed, the chlorophyll molecule is destroyed, which means the green coloring is removed, which allows other pigments to become expressive. This process plays a large part in the change in leaf coloration in autumn before leaves fall. Al...See MoreIs there something wrong with my mango sprout?
Comments (3)Its dead. The main shoot died from too wet,too dry, too chilled for too long as a seed, or even too much peat in the potting mix you used. Your best bet is to plant MANY Mango seeds- all you ate of a box of them, and you will quickly learn that vigor is wildly varied seedling to seedling. Keep the best, cull the rest....See MoreIs there something wrong with my 4-yr old lime tree?
Comments (9)I'm seeing something in photo 3 that looks like it might be an infestation. I'd suggest cutting it off and taking it to your local Ag Agent. Your leaves look like they are not getting water. How was this planted? Did you dig a hole and then added bagged soil? You shouldn't do this because there might not be a lot of water transfer between soil types. Always use the soil you took out of the hole. Our adobe-type soil really is pretty good if you keep it watered. Was it root-bound when you planted it and didn't get unwound? Perhaps the roots have spread out and you're watering only by the base of the tree. There are a number of reasons for lack of water. Like was said above, check various areas after watering to see if the roots are getting water. Also, you might be fertilizing too much. The Ag advice is 3 times: February, March/April and then in July. I'm not sure why the Epsom Salts. I just use Citrus fertilizer those three times, and my lime, lemon and kumquat are fine. ( They are in the ground, not in pots. Pots need more frequent fertilizer.) Good luck! Kate...See MorePatty W. zone 5a Illinois
