Why yes, I does :). I have a black coffee table with a lot of brown in the room. Leather couch/chairs and wooden tables and miscellaneous pieces like the tv shelf. My table is from Thomasville. Here's the advertisement version: I've got a couple of pictures that show it in my room, though not all that well. Here they are: Another angle: I think it all works fine. I will add that the wood accent pieces in the LR tend to the tobacco/darker range. I don't have light wood or leather in there. Hope this helps, Ann

And I overthink everything, so I'm easily confused :D blfenton - that's exactly what I was thinking... since I want it to be insulated to protect the table from heat, it will be a thicker fabric, and I'm thinking it might make the plate wobbly. We are usually paper-plate-casual-chaos for our holiday dinners, but I want to make it nice this year! I've seen lots of pictures where it's just in the center of the table. I was originally thinking I wanted something more elegant, but I think maybe I'll just make it 60" long...then there's room for placemats at the ends of the table when it's extended as well as when it's the usual size. Waddya think?

A 6 x 8 rug will be perfect. I like them to slip under the front 1/3 of the sofa and all the way under the chaise with at least a foot extending past the sides. Is that a column or a wall to the right in this pic? If a wall, I'd place TV there, sofa on the big wall and float a pair of chairs in the bay. The diameter of your end table would be about right for a new coffee table. I've included a chart about table and lamp height so you can get that right. Curtains hung properly would unite the bay windows and add softness.

You'll be lucky to find a short enough end table that is 30" let alone 36". They often range between 24" and 28"
