Travertine Countertop Sealer?

I was doing some research and have narrowed it down to the Akemi Stain Repellant Nano or the Stone Surface Technologies SB (STT SB), and ended up with the STT SB because many posters here and at JB said it had no odor. Now I go to find some to buy and can't find it anywhere. Has anyone used this product that can direct me where to buy?

Also, have you liked it over time? I saw that rococogurl likes the Akemi, so I could go with that since it's readily available, but I'll be applying it indoors in the future and was hoping to have a better smelling option.

Better option is to not choose travertine. It etches, is porous, and has holes in it.

It was free and is gorgeous. Also, we are filling the holes with either a resin or a mastic (haven't decided yet), so there will be no pits or holes. Entire house is DIY, Northwest mountain style, and it's okay if it's not perfect. Still looking for a great sealer, though!

i have been searching for months about ikea butcher block counter tops and how to seal them. I have read so many blogs and GW links that i cant even keep them straight. I purchased the oak counter and i need to seal them tomorrow. I purchased 3 cans of the behandla( I live 3 hours away from my nearest ikea)I am not sure if i should use them or use waterlox.Why would i want to use one over the other? Thank you

I would look into the 511 Miracle Impregnator Sealer. I have used this on my kitchen counters (River White granite) and bathroom Carrara marble about once every other year for the last 5 years with no issues. We recently finished our basement and have a light colored granite there too. This stone also came from a place where the price was right, and I could tell immediately that it had no seal on it by the way it completely darkened when wet. I have used the sealer twice in the past 6 months trying to get a better seal on it. I tend to be very cautious with the application of the sealer, but on these “budget” basement counters I think a heavier hand may have been more appropriate. If your counters are absorbing water very easily, don’t be surprised if it takes more than one application to get it sealed.

Are you sure your granite even needs to be sealed? Many granites do not need sealer at all. A lot of fabricators seal the granite immediately after they install it, just as a matter of course and the "finale" to the installation, but the granite may not need it. What granite do you have? There is an easy way to see if your granite needs to be sealed or not. Drip some water on the counter. Let it sit for 15 minutes. If the water absorbs into the stone, the stone needs to be sealed. If the water is sitting on top after 15 minutes, then wipe it, and see if there is any water stain showing (it will go away in a few minutes). If there is, then some water has absorbed into the stone, and the stone needs to be sealed. If the water did not absorb and did not leave a water stain, the stone does not need to be sealed.

I can't help you with a sealer, but I have 2500 sq ft of travertine floors, running through 3 bathrooms, including the shower. The floors have been down for 6 years now, with 2 kids, 3 adult dogs, 1 senior dog, and a puppy (and all that a senior dog and puppy entails) the floors have held up beautifully, we are just now starting to see some small pits in the high traffic areas around the kitchen. We did not use a gloss sealer on our floors, so etching has been minimal, even with puppy issues. After having travertine floors, I would not hesitate for a moment to use a good quality travertine for my countertops in the future, I have more visible issues with my marble bathroom countertop than I have had with the floors. What ever do you mean? How would travertine, a natural stone that is filled and sealed the same as granite, have any effect on food safety?
