Japanese Peonies?
Comments (9)You are very welcome Connie! Sorry, I did not notice that you wanted double. Check out A & D Nursery and Peony Garden web sites. They both have P. tenuifolia Rubra Plena. The fernleaf Peonies are rather expensive, but do not buy them from Spring Hill and other vendors that are not reputable: there is a big possibility that Peonies from them will not be true to name. You can find other Peony sellers here. Good luck!...See Moresick peony
Comments (4)Well - fall is the better time to move them as that is when they are generally dormant or heading into dormancy. But people have moved them at any time of the year that they could be dug and they did just fine. There's a good chance that they will not bloom this year (due to root disturbance), but hopefully either next year or the year after. Just let it be and let it continue to grow foliage, as that is what will help it to increase the size of the rhizomes and establish a good root system. I have seen recommendations from some to put a little bonemeal around them (away from the stems) in early spring before they emerge, whereas others do no fertilizing whatsoever and they grow just fine. It all depends on your soil and you can actually have it tested to see if it is deficient. In any case - wish your baby luck! They are pretty tough....See MoreSick Peony Please help
Comments (1)To me it looks like they are ravished by powdery mildew. I would dig them and get them out of the garden before you have the problem with a lot more of your plants. I don't think they can be saved but if you want to try I would put them in 'isolation' away from other 'patients'. Al...See MoreHelp! Transplanted Tree Peony Declining
Comments (4)Thanks. Checking out the garden.org forum and will post there as well. Will also try to shade them (possibly they just have too much sun exposure right there for their shocked roots as I'm waiting for the evergreens to grow in). Hoping to save them...and even if I don't -- hoping to understand what happened. What to rule out the Walnut in case I want to try again. Don't suppose anyone knows what Juglone poisoning looks like on a peony?...See MoreA. Newfool
