Mixing brass fixtures with brushed nickel or chrome
Comments (3)We were initially thinking some sort of white-grey porcelain tile but couldn't find any that had a little texture in them. Most of the tile we saw was more beige than white. We don't like the tile shown in the photo - too small with too many grout lines that could be hard to clean. We want a little texture in the tiles so it is not slippery but not so much that it is hard to clean Thanks...See MoreMixing metals-stainless steel farmhouse sink with brass hardware?
Comments (25)To the OP, if you decide on an apron front sink in stainless steel, make sure to look at how the front panel is made. You don’t want a curved one. You also don’t want a SS apron front that is super thick. What Joe Corlett pictures above is more what you want. Some of the cheaper ones have the super thick apron - it intrudes into the usable floor area of the sink. An extra-thick apron also removes the ergonomic advantage of an apron front which is that it is easier on your back to have your body directly against the sink, than to have the slight lean required with an undermount sink with its several inches of counter in front of it. I like the design of the Elkay apron front sink, because it also has an offset corner drain, an advantage. However, I don’t have direct experience with it so I unfortunately can’t advise on whether it’s a quality sink or not. What you DON’T want - this apron front is more than 5” thick: The Elkay ECTRUF30179RC, https://www.homedepot.com/p/Elkay-Crosstown-Farmhouse-Apron-Front-Stainless-Steel-36-in-Single-Bowl-Kitchen-Sink-with-Bottom-Grid-and-Drain-ECTRUF30179RC/305866142, the apron front is 2-1/2” thick....See Morefaucet brand w/ a finish matching Kingston brass brushed brass?
Comments (35)@Liz Patrick Love your kitchen and thanks for showing the differences in detail. On a time crunch with our kids’ bath and trying to decide if i can mix Kingston Brushed Brass faucets (which will go better with our lighting) and Delta Champagne Bronze fixtures in the shower which will be behind a shower curtain. In the pic of your kitchen faucet and disposal button, you called the Delta finish Champagne Gold but you meant Champagne Bronze right? Thanks for your help! Anyone else use Kingston brushed brass with Kohler shower components in Vibrant Brushed Moderne Brass? Im wondering which one is a closer match, Kohler or Delta? I need something thats in stock and ready to ship so i cant wait for Brizo or California Faucets. Im also thinking of mixing the Kingston brushed brass fixtures in the vanity area with their polished brass in the shower behind the shower curtain. They dont have all the shower components we need in the brushed brass in stock. Would love anyone’s feedback..we decided to tack this on to a much more extensive reno and i dont have the luxury of going to showrooms to look for this part of the reno....See MoreHudson Valley & Mitzi Aged Brass before and after pics anyone?
Comments (5)Hi there: I use Hudson Valley and Mitzi lighting all the time, and have for almost a decade. I love their aged brass finish. I have seen untreated brass faucets that become quite funky: this is not THAT. It's a gorgeous, rich look, and I have used in kitchens and bathrooms, as well as general living spaces. It isn't a bright brass, that sometimes makes you think cheapo 80s, but just deepens a little. I don't have photos from older pieces, I'm afraid, and I'm sorry about that. But I have had literally zero problems, and believe me I would hear if I did! I love the HVL lines, and recommend them to all my clients. I don't see how you go wrong with their aged brass, unless you made the mistake of polishing it. Love the natural richness of the material, and don't fear it....See MoreNothing Left to Say
