Here's the baked kale recipe. Best served immediatley out of the oven IMO, but actually stays somewhat crisp if cooled before storing in sealed container. Watch it closely! It goes from "not done" to "burnt" very quickly!! Don't ask how I know this... Baked Kale 2 cups fresh kale leaves Olive oil nonstick spray Dash salt, or more to taste Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place kale leaves on a baking sheet sprayed with olive oil nonstick spray. Spritz leaves with the nonstick spray and sprinkle with salt. Bake in the oven until crispy, 5 - 8 minutes, for a potato-chip-like snack. If you like, season to taste with additional salt. Eat up! I'm growing Red Russian Kale hydroponically and have two questions. 1. The picture below shows the Kale about 2 months old. Should they be larger? 2. What kind of deficiency is causing random leaves to turn yellow? Thanks.

I have only guesses. Btw, your plants overall look healthy. I would guess that it's either overwatering or over fertilization. I say that based on seeing the plant in nature growing in the hot, dry, hard South Texas landscape in full sun. This potting mix looks AWFULLY water retentive. Hope someone has better insight.

Flea beetles are pretty small but the netting should keep them at bay. Flea beetles are hard to spot sometimes, as you approach the plants they will "jump" like a flea so quickly that you'll miss seeing them. Once you leave they'll jump back on the plants. They don't like leaving the plants if it's too dark (after sundown but still twilight) so that's a good time to inspect the plants to see if they're present. They are tiny creatures about the size of a speck of black pepper.
