Seil I lifted it up and added soil underneath and then put it back into the hole. Its raised up a bit more now and looks good. I have another question for you. Another rose I planted near this one at the same time now has a couple of yellow leaves. The others I planted along the same flower bed are looking nice and green and already showing new growth. This one in particular is called the Just Joey. The soil is still pretty wet from a couple of days of heavy rain so i doubt its thirsty. Could these just be older leaves getting ready to drop? There are no spots or lines. The leaves are just yellowing as if they are old. These are all own-root about 6 inches tall. Just this one is not looking as good as the others. Am I just over reacting? Is this normal in such a young plant?

My coneflowers curl downwards as they grow up but face up while in bloom so I wouldn't worry about them. The yellow leaves on the catmint is a sign of root damage, more than likely too much water so rise it up first. If your original soil doesn't drain well you should always plant on top of it and build mounds of good soil around the plants (sort of a raised bed without walls). If the area has some slope to it you can also dig little trenches to drain the bowls of clay under the plants. Sitting in water is bad for most plants. If its been as wet as you say these guys have probably not grown a lot of roots so go ahead and dig them up. Keep in mind that the roots will eventually be longer than they were in the pot so you want to really mound them up high. Also keep in mind that both cone flowers and catmint don't need extra rich soil, just normal garden soil will do. Some of them bloom better in poor soil.

By the structure of some gingers & heliconias plant cells , they do not store the water and therefore do not support to be moved without damage - cut the old foliage and just be patient until new roots grow ! Its why most of ginger & heliconias grow well near by the stream !

let us know how well it goes and if I had to guess it will probably bounce back because it doesnt seem like you moved a very large plant. ANother option would be to remove the staking to let the cherry sprawl around on the ground instead of disturbing an established root system on a fruting plant. Reason being my growing season is already more than half over.
