One more thing, FWIW...I found a recipe for Goulash from Cook's Illustrated on Food.com. A note following the recipe included the quote below. I don't always agree with CI, but finding the recommendation from Fine Cooking makes me think The Spice House is likely good. “From Cook's Illustrated, Dec 2008. Use a chuck eye roast. Do not use hot, half-sharp or Spanish paprika; if you can, mail-order your sweet paprika and use a fresh container. Cook's Illustrated prefers The Spice House. The stew can be prepared up to 2 days ahead; do not add the optional sour cream until after reheating. Remove the hardened fat and add water to thin it. (I like to add about 1/2 lb of button mushrooms, quartered, with the carrots and beef, but that wasn't in the original CI recipe.)”

I agree, I like to do their puzzles as well but refuse to pay extra to go beyond the most basic levels. You can usually Google the name of the recipe and find it on another site. Or clear your cookies and the site will let you look at one or two recipes before it blocks you. Is this the recipe? Tuscan Farro Soup By Mark Bittman 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 1 large onion, sliced 2 celery stalks, trimmed and chopped 2 carrots, peeled and chopped Salt and pepper 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 cup farro, spelt or barley 1 cup dried white beans, soaked for several hours or overnight 2 cups chopped tomatoes (canned are fine; do not drain) 6 cups stock or water, more as necessary ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley ¼ cup chopped fresh basil, optional Freshly grated Parmesan Put oil in a large, deep saucepan over medium heat; a minute later add onion, celery, carrots, a large pinch of salt and some pepper. Cook until vegetables are glossy and onion is softened, 5 to 10 minutes. Add garlic, and stir; add farro, beans, tomatoes and stock, and stir. Bring to a boil, then adjust heat so mixture simmers steadily. Cook until farro and beans are tender, at least an hour, adding stock or water as necessary if mixture becomes too thick. Stir in parsley and basil (if using), then cook another 5 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning, then serve with lots of Parmesan.

I haven't watched much broadcast TV in a long time. Other than the reality-DIY channels (Animal Planet, NatGeo, HGTV, Food Network, etc.) nothing produced interests me. I rarely even watch local or national news anymore as it is always gloom and doom I can do without. I have been subscribed to several streaming services for a number of years and I watch them almost exclusively. The monthly fees are negligible IMO, and since other forms of entertainment are now harder to come by or more difficult to access (movies, concerts, the few sporting events I would consider attending) and far more expensive anyway, that is not a burden. A minor investment in my single person happiness :-) I get regular email updates for all my streaming services that keep me apprised of new shows and all have 'watch lists' where I can bookmark any shows I might be interested in watching. And most are searchable as well. One thing I really like about streaming is the ability to see (usually) an entire series at one time....or at least a full season. Having wait for weekly installments on regular TV has become an irritation and I often forget the details of what I saw the week before. Or longer with some shows. I prefer to binge!! 🥴

Driving tendencies are most definitely regional, I think. When I lived and worked in Kansas City, driving in the city, my concerns and "norms" were considerably different than what I deal with out here in the boonies. I would love to have remote start, but my SUV doesn't have it. No garage, cold winters, remote area. It would be lovely to stand in the house and push a button to get things thawing and warming up. Or in the summer, 100+ heat, it would be nice to open vehicle windows and start the AC before I actually get out there. NEXT vehicle will definitely have that function! LOL As for using the hazard lights ... living where I do, with hilly and curvy roads, no shoulders, I use my hazards at least a couple times a month especially this time of year with much roadwork going on. Even with BIG YELLOW SIGNAGE giving advance notice of upcoming roadwork and lane closures, folks don't slow down until the last moment. So when I'm the last person in a stopped or extremely slow (creeping) lane, I automatically engage my flashers. It gives the next person cresting a hill or coming around a curve, at least a couple extra seconds to change speed. And, more often than not, they also engage hazards to alert whoever comes behind them.
