Island paint color with blue pearl counter?

Hello - I am in the process of updating our kitchen. We have blue pearl granite and we are getting ready to have the cabinets painted decorator's white (BM). I would like to paint the island gray but not sure if I should go light or dark and then what shade of gray looks best with blue pearl. We are swapping out the backsplash to a Carrera marble which I'm very excited about. Any suggestions for island paint color or even wall color to pull together the blue pearl and Carrera would be greatly appreciated!! - Thanks!

I don't have the cabinets painted yet or the backsplash installed so imagine a completely different look here. Thanks!

I had Titanium granite installed and when it was 2 weeks old, I did the same thing with a ceramic vase. I could have cried! It was hand made and glazed except for the bottom. I had always kept cooking utensils in it and kind of tipped it and slid it closer to get a tall item out of it. I thought Titanium was supposed to be one of the most durable granites too. But I used a black sharpie and then some granite polish as suggested by the fabricators and I can't even find the scratches now. However, I very quickly put felt bottoms on my porcelain canisters and now use a mat if using anything with a ceramic bottom.

the cabinets along the perimeter (outside wall) + island cabinets will be the same stained maple. The butler's pantry (on opposite side of room) will have blue painted cabinets. For countertops, we want to put the darker color (currently verde karzai) on the perimeter, a lighter color (sea pearl) on the island and a small slab of sea pearl on the butler pantry. I think it depends on what kind of feel you want for your kitchen. The white cabinets will bring freshness and a light grey island would go along with that feeling. A dark gray, especially a warm dark gray, would bring richness. Although it's difficult to tell from your pictures, it looks like you have a small island relative to the number of wall and base cabinets. If you go dark, the island might look out of place. Painting the island white or light gray might make your kitchen appear larger and more cohesive. If you can, post pictures of your cabinet/counter/paint swatches and it might be easier to help you decide. Good luck with your project.
