How cold is too cold for eggs to be viable?

My geese have been laying, I'm letting them hatch their own, as I believe it's the best way. I've had previous successful hatches. However, some of the eggs have been left to get very cold, not incubated yet, they're sitting on others. The cold eggs have almost frozen, I candled all of them, and can see no difference from the ones they are sitting on and the cold ones. They only keep covering the eggs, which are 5, as if saving for later. I know they do this so they sit when they have the amount collected they want, but I'm concerned.
