Chicka, I don't know if they've flown yet, because each time I've checked lately, the camera is pointed at some blank place on the roof. The last few times I've seen the chicks, they were up on the tall ledge, though, so maybe the camera pointed at that blank area means they've taken off from that place! According to the link I posted above, they usually don't hunt on their own until about a month after their first flight. I thought I read somewhere that they stay at the nest sight (or with the parents) for up to a year after they hatch...but I'm not sure now. It's said that "the only time that a female would lay more than one clutch of eggs in a year is if the first eggs are lost or damaged before hatching or the chicks die in their first few days." Looks like an osprey to me.

The University of Wisconsin (I think...I have deleted the email now) had a nest box and webcam of a Peregrine Falcon nest...the male, named Samson. Samson and his mate raised 4 chicks. Samson migrated to Texas for the winter and was found with a broken wing and taken to the Wildlife Center. It was broken so badly that he can never fly again, and will be found a home as an educational bird, or in a zoo facility. They don't know if his mate migrated with him, or what happened to her. He had a leg band, but she had never been banded, so if she died, and was found, no one would know. They are magnificent birds. Thanks for your link!

It does look better from the outside than from the inside. In L.A., it would be a party house, for week-end rentals only - I've been to some in Malibu like that. I could also see it as part of a set for a James Bond movie. I would never live in Arizona, but I do like to visit friends in Tuscon. Utah is beautiful too, but I could never live there either, although I do like to visit.
