Thanks, dennisgli. Glad to hear from a happy F-P person. I haven't been able to see the model you have, or the one that replaced it. It doesn't seem to have a FD option any more, which is livable for us. The one in the appliance shop is just a titch bigger, which is actually a downside for us as we want to keep things as low profile as we can. I was impressed with the amount of fridge space, though. Particularly on the door... There were a few GW threads talking about both the freezer and the fridge not being able to get cold enough that scared me off of F-P when we were prepared to purchase. Now, I am rethinking it again and will do more research (ugh). ahoyhere - what people talk about on-line, and it resonates for me, is that when short people with a small arm research (or bad backs) try to bend into freezer drawers and pull large things out of the bottom, it can be difficult (or painful). This resonates with me, as someone with a short reach and bad back. In those cases, it is actually easier to open a bottom door and have full access via squating than having to bend over and reach down and in. I totally get your loathing of squating for the crisper drawers and we are sold on a bottom freezer for that reason. Surely we access the freezer less than the fridge. However, it doesn't negate the point that proper back mechanics (which matter to those of us with back pain) involve using the knees (squatting) versus bending over and using back muscles to lift ourselves and items up. Your Pininterest page is a lot of fun. Appliance eye candy, which I couldn't appreciate until this remodel. I took some repins for my own underused pininterest page. Thank you! By the way, we have one of those single induction burners that we purchased to use during the remodel - it sold us on getting an induction range. Just LOVE it. Ginny20 - I have no idea about whether Samsung's ice maker/water can be shut off. And I really, really do not want water on the door. I'm not loving that the Samsung CD sticks out so far past the cabinets, either. And, apparently the service and repair issues are nightmarish up here in Alaska. The appliance repair folks who used to repair them have dropped them because it is just so bad to work with them. I really don't want to treat a major appliance like a disposable item, which is basically what I'd have to do with Samsung. Take my chances that I get a good one - be prepared to take it to the dump if it breaks... I went out again and did the rounds. Fell in love with the Liebherr's looks again, as I do every time I see it. For sure, it would look the best. It's the thinnest, narrowest and most integrated look. It's also freaking pricey...and the freezer storage seems pretty slim. Thanks for the feedback, folks. I'm still not sure where this boat is going to land.

Here is a to-scale visual for you showing 3 different sink sizes in a 39" corner cabinet. Do make sure your corner cabinet is 39" and not 36" as this will make a difference in the maximum sink size. In the photo, the white rim around the gray is the lip that runs around the sink that attaches to the stone countertop for an undermount sink. The gray is the actual interior space of the sink. Each sink size is denoted next to it. I have both the 30" rectangle sink & the 23" D-Sink. The 30" fits everything including my super long grate panels for my rangetop (12"x24") with room to spare. I have a D-Sink in the kitchen and one in the laundry, it pretty much fits everything too including my roasting pan-at 17.5" long. One of the advantages of the D-Sink is that you gain a couple inches in width (20" vs 18" referring to measurement from top at the faucet to bottom at the counter) which helps visually with a corner cabinet and the dead space behind the faucet. Either shape you go with will be more than adequate for what you want to wash/soak in the sink--especially the 30" rectangle. But I don't think the 33" is a good idea as it will increase the amount of countertop between you & the sink by 2" which as LWO mentions will be a strain on your back. If you were going double bowl with the sink, that would be a different story, but since you're going single bowl, you will be just fine. I've also attached a link to the brand of sinks we put in in case your builder/KD has a hard time finding a ~30" sink. Ours are model #s LXUS03 & LXUS04. Hi, I got your email with this question. (You were right that I haven't checked here in a long time.) I thought that I would give you my answer in the forum. Here are the measurements that you wanted: The depth of the main sink is about 9 1/4" plus about 1.5 inches of soapstone countertop. I think that it's plenty deep. The measurement of the internal part of the sink from front to back is 15.75" and the width (not including the 12" shelf) is 19.5". That 15.75" is the actual internal measurement as some space is taken by the ledge that holds the cutting boards. Although I use my Stages solely as a prep sink, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use it as your main sink. The shelf could hold either dirty dishes or dishes waiting to be rinsed. The only issue is the cutting boards. I don't use the plastic ones much but I do keep the mahogany board in the sink most of the time. It is big and heavy and you'll have to figure out a place to put it when you're doing dishes. But if you can find a solution for that I think that you'll be fine. Hope that helps.

Yes, when I say it started with the sink, I did mean it quite literally. The first thing that bothered me about our kitchen when we moved in was the sink. But if you replace the sink, you really need to replace the counters and the faucet, and it would be a good time to replace the dishwasher. If you are going to replace the counters, then you might as well think about making any other changes... which lead to moving the range and adding a cabinet, and so it goes. I think the other thing about a sink is that it's something that you use all the time. Constantly. It seems like everything in a kitchen revolves around the sink. And that's probably why if you have room, two sinks are a good idea. But I will be happy just to get this one large sink installed. And I hope by starting with it, everything else will fall into place.
