Possible cure---don't run at night, and reinstall the muffler! Problem solved! And--why worry about it--the flame is what makes the engine run! If no flame--no run!! Simple question---simple solution!

how about a little archeology ... hand trowel.. and an old paint brush.. AND SEE WHATS THERE.. rather than start digging ... be gentle ... you probably have to reset it.. but why guess... my guess is that you couldnt wait for an answer.. and already ran out after typing the post.. and did it.. lol ... ken

Not clear if your stove has always done this or if the yellow flame thing has developed recently. If recent, first thing I would do (and which I have done with my NXR to fix the problem when I had it), was to check to be sure that: (a) you haven't knocked something askew while cleaning, such as the central burner cap;and then (b) take the burner apart and blow out the ports with some canned air (the kind that is sold for computers and electronics). If the burner has always done this since you received the stove, then you have a mal-adjusted burner and it should be covered by warrranty. Call the NXR customer service line. The number is in the manual. I've found the techs to be very pleasant and very helpful. They can probably tell you how to do ityourself if ytou do not want to wait for warranty service. Seems as though you are within the one-year warranty period. (Two if you bought your NXR from Costco using an Amex Card.) Otherwise, adjusting an NXR burner is just like any adjusting any other gas stove. Very simple. Pull the knob and adjust the set screw inside the end of the shaft. Several YouTube videos on this, IIRC, although I don't know of any specific to the NXR. Maybe some on Wolf stoves, though. But even GE, Frigidaire, etc. all work the same way. The idea of double stacking the grates is brilliant, no extra stuff needed (though you will lose use of the now-naked burner for the duration.) However, the little cast-iron flame tamer laid on top of the existing grate may do the trick equally well. (Always did for me.) And it does double duty, when not in use taming flame, as a counter-top trivet. Cost is usally less than $10. For prolonged, very low temp simmers you might find the double-grate plus flame tamer to be the way to go. In those cases it's not likely you'll be using every burner, so the temporary loss of one hob won't be critical. Another possibility would be to figure a way to raise the grate up to some level between 1X to 2X its height. Simple little bits or bars of iron or steel might do the trick once you discover the optimal height for the kind of simmering you want to do. L.
