I agree with the Crimson Bouquet. It's the best small sized rose bush in my garden too. I'm surprised not more people grow her. Thanks for this review and others comments as well, because I had no idea of all the places to get good roses. I should relay my experience too with the few I have ordered from. Heirloom: good healthy plants but only two have bloomed in their first year. I am assuming that's normally the case with new roses and for own root. I bought two Earth Angels and both are sending blind shoots. Red Minimo bloomed like crazy. Blue For You bloomed like crazy. Abraham Darby is too new to say. I personally like Heirloom but it is very expensive I must say. All their roses have sent basals from the roots so I am happy. J&P: I recieved one band of Ballerina that hasn't bloomed and I don't expect it to till a few years but is doing great! I got two bareroot roses that are doing fine as well. One is Heirloom which was free and is doing exceptionally well and Spice it Up which is taking a little long to establish. I will say I have some pest eating the buds before they can form properly and that may have been the problem with the two EAs as well not blooming yet. High Country Roses: I got a Paul Neyron where the top growth looked amazing and there was an ok amount of root mass. It didn't fall apart when I transplanted it so I am waiting to see how it does. Rogue Valley Roses: I got three bands from them and while the root mass on all of them was massive the stems look a very sickly yellow and one stem on one plant of the two is maroon with some white stuff on it. Still waiting for them to look better. They are starting some signs of new growth as the bud eyes are starting to swell. Hopefully they will be ok. I got a Dakota Redwing, Yves Piaget, and Bouquet Parfait. I needed a couple shade tolerant roses. Yves is the only one going in a pot in the front. That's only if it starts growing more before the fall cutoff planting time too. I need to try Palatine this fall if they get the roses I want back in stock. Also K&m sounds good too. I did preorder from David Austin for next year and it was my first time. I hope it won't be a disappointment. The only thing that is a bit confusing to me personally is the nurseries that just have a list of roses with no real way to know which are currently in stock. There is no online cart. I agree with what Jackie said. But of course I have to add my own 2¢ worth. Lots of plants can sucker, not just roses. My tree-form-trained crape myrtle sent up suckers from the root for its first 10 years or so, and still tries now and then. There are 4 redwood trees near our house and I cut root suckers off those All.The.Time. In my personal experience, the worst offenders in the rose world are the gallicas and the rugosas, also pretty much any kind of species rose. Damasks and albas follow after that. Rose de Rescht will sucker after it is well established. So will Grandmother's Hat, though so far it stays within a foot or two of the base. The difference between own-root suckering and grafted root suckering is that if you allow a grafted plant to sucker from the rootstock, it will eventually kill the scion rose and the rootstock will take over. With own root suckering you just get more of the same rose. Sometimes more than you want. I am having a similar problem with one of my oranges, 'Midnight', a Valencia-type orange. It must be less vigorous than my other oranges because it is the only one that is doing this. I've had to cut off rootstock suckers several years in a row, and boy, that rootstock is nasty to handle. Vaporvac, I would love it if you could come. But there aren't any other rose aficionados there. I brought Oranges N Lemons and Sally Holmes last year and there weren't really any takers. The Oranges N Lemons went in the free for all at the end where you just grab whats left but I brought the Sally Holmes home. This year I didn't bring the Gourmet Popcorn I gave away because we hadn't dug it up yet. Instead I advertised it on Nextdoor so someone could research it and really want it. If I thought there would be any interest we would have made more of an effort to get it dug up. In terms of timing they are decided upon a few weeks in advance based on the schedule of the person volunteering to host. BTW, my other Oranges N Lemons I tried to propagate died over the winter in our basement but the Sally Holmes appears to have hung on. It showed a small amount of new growth this spring but is back in the basement due to bad weather. I don't yet know where I will put it if I keep it. The Oranges N Lemons in the yard showed great new growth a month ago but then got badly shredded by the hail. Right now it is looking iffy if it makes it with barely any green on it's little stub of a self. I think if it doesn't I won't replace it with another. We just have bad juju with that rose. First it gets run over with a garden cart the same day it goes in the ground, then the rooting portion dies due to neglect when my mom forgot to water the basement plants while we were on vacation. And now it gets hammered by hail.

@mmmm12COzone5 Wow that Parade Day looks so good. I just LOVE that color. I wish I could edit my post so I could remove "climber" because I don't think it comes as a climber.. I must be high on rose shopping because it's the second mistake I've made recently. Goodness gracious. How nice to walk through all the roses High Country Gardens grows. I'm glad to read more good things about them. I even called them to add a few more! I added these: Bolero Winnipeg Parks Darlows Enigma Midnight Blue Marie Pavié When the roses arrive in spring I'm going to pot most of them up a bit. I may squeeze a few into the vegetable garden as well.
