Paint tall cast iron hot water baseboards wall or trim color?

Young painter suggests wall color to make them disappear but I think that they will then look odd next to the adjacent soon to be white 'ranch trim' baseboards. The dining room, where they will be the most exposed, will be Hawthorne Yellow with a lot of white; window trim, white curtain panels, etc. and so I'm thinking maybe white would look better as in the bathroom which will likely have white beadboard. But In the other rooms, especially the living room, I could see making them disapear behing the furniture using the wall color. Yet, would that look odd, with some like the walls, some like the trim? Opinions? What have those having to do this chosen to do? BTW, the hot water baseboards are at least a coup;e inches thick and at least a foot tall, I would guess.
