Where would you put the dining room and living room?
Comments (20)That's a plus! Close up the pass through and door and make a high opening through that wall. Joanna Gaines does that a lot so the support is not lost but you get the feeling of openness. She'll take a regular 72" opening and widen it to 84 or 96 and open it to the ceiling. Remarkable difference, but if it is load bearing, you may have to insert some support in the wall above it which is more expensive to do. Remember, when you open this wall, guests will step through your front door and see your kitchen and all the mess. Something to consider. You might appreciate closing the current door and pass through and putting a 48" wide opening at the thermostat end of that wall for access without the direct view from the entrance into the kitchen. With the other wall closed, you might find room for a tiny breakfast table and chairs or for a coffee bar....See Morewhich dining chair would you choose?
Comments (11)This is very close to the table. The floors are medium color wood, the walls are metro gray by BM with white trim on the windows. I know it is a lot of gray but I'm not really into color and I figured I would add color with accessories. The dining room also opens up onto the living room. The only other color chair I considered was white but I was told white chairs will get dirty over time. I do not want black chairs....See MoreWhich 3 https://ruggable.com rugs would you place in this room?
Comments (0)Hi, Houzzers, Which three rugs from ruggable.com would you pair together for this open space? Re: size, I'm thinking one 2.5x7 runner, one 8x10 for the hangout area (center), and one 5x7 for the dining area (right). I'll also need one 3x5 for the kitchen (you can see kitchen bar counter starting in far right). Wood is engineered white oak hardwood. Thanks! Much appreciated....See MoreWould you center dining room light on room or between windows?
Comments (13)Our previous home and our dining furniture were destroyed by a storm back in January so everything in the space will be new. I was going to wait until the house was nearer completion to decide exactly what furniture I will put in the space, beginning with the table and chairs and going from there. I’m not even sure if I want a hutch in the space or not as it will crowd the space and limit me in the future if I need to use table extensions for larger gatherings. Plus, there is a 30” wall between the kitchen and dining room (shaded in pink). Therefore, my gut says center between windows :) I just wanted to be sure before I had the electrician move it so I didn’t end up asking him to move it back later... :/...See More- 9 years ago
