Buehl, The trash holder is 9" deep. Fori, We are having a 6" high full extension pullout shelf made for the bottom of our basement vanity. I'd originally wanted a bottom drawer (with the sink base doors above it), but the carpenter pointed out that to balance with the 11 1/2" deep drawers on the two sides of the base, it would be mighty tight fitting in an undermount sink and plumbing, etc. DH is DIY all the plumbing, so he will make sure it's high enough to clear the shelf. No pictures yet, as the vanity hasn't been completed. I will line the pullout with Life liner as I did under the sink in the kitchen. We've already had a wee link (some connection was loose), and the life liner caught it! Whew! BTW, now that I've finally ordered my custom made vanity, it seems like there are vanities popping up all over the place with bottom drawers under the sink!!! Where have they been for the past year? I was just a little ahead of the game!

My 1 HP is an Insinkerator also -- it just predates the Evolution series. It is very similar, but not as quiet. We had to replace the disposal almost immediately after buying this house. Since it was fairly new, we didn't see any need to replace it. If it should die, we will replace with an Evolution. From what I remember of reading the specs for the various Evolution models, they weren't that much different in size. DH wanted the 1 HP so he could peel potatoes and not worry about a clog (the only problem we'd had in the past). It was strictly bigger was better for him after we'd had a 1/2 HP we had to replace in the last house. To be honest though, he has peeled most of those potatoes at the prep sink since we put it in, and the 3/4 HP has handled them just as well. We haven't had a problem with either of them, so I usually just tell folks to make sure they hve at least 3/4 HP -- and the Evolution are quieter. Oh -- my 1 HP is under a deep sink in a 36" cabinet -- rear center drain. We have an instant hot heater tank, 2 sets of DW connections, a NeverMT with a warhouse bottle of soap. a basket for extra trash bags and a few less often used items, another basket for DW detergent and other cleaners, a trash bin and a recycling bin. Cleaning supplies should be no problem in a 30" cabinet.

Sorry, for the late reply. I just saw this. No, we've had so many other issues come up with the build that have required all my attention, I haven't had time to focus on this. I do plan to use 30"-36" sinks. I will let the final cabinet layout dictate the sink sizes, so long as we are in that range. If I have an extra 3" of wasted space, I'll go up in sink size, or if I need a few inches for the trash can, I'll go down a couple inches on the sink. The main thing I haven't decided on yet, is whether they'll both be apron sinks or one apron and one under mount. Or, one stainless steel and one fire clay/ceramic/etc? Oh boy, I guess I have a little more left to decide than I thought! I think lead time and prices will point in the right direction on material! LOL! @vevmom, if your island is 10' long, I think the 33" sink will work nicely. That is still less than 1/3 of your island. I think bbtrix's photos above are great for helping to visualize this. (Thanks again bbtrix!) That island is 8' long with a stages 45. You'll have 2 more feet of island, plus a smaller sink. Let me know what you decide.

The struggle is real... I have a delayed kitchen/laundry/powder room remodel and am also struggling with a few issues. I personally don't mind some asymmetry but only with certain things. About a year ago we had to replace the kitchen sink and garbage disposal (reno was still just a dream at that point). I found an economical sink/faucet duo knowing that it wouldn't be forever. Although the drop-in sink is centered, because of the sink shape the faucet sits to the right of center. It made me crazy for a while but we grew accustomed to it. I've attached a photo for you to see. My mess is from a wish-I-never-would-have-started fireplace refresh that now includes wood filling and painting the built-ins on both sides (the tools on the left) and our batch of French Vanilla Ice Cream that will be made shortly :). I have a very strong preference for a faucet to be centered if it is under a window so for the reno I bought a 32" rectangular undermount sink (Kraus Kore Workstation) with a single hole faucet that is going directly in the middle of my window - yay!!!! In the end, you have to weigh your visual preference vs need for that 3" of storage. Line up 3" worth of goods that you'd store there. Can you get rid of or relocate some items? Could be worth it. If you don't mind the look of the off center faucet then don't worry. Good luck and let us know what you do!
