How to uninstall Avast From my laptop

I will be removing Avast from my laptop windows 7 computer next month and I want to make sure I get everything removed before installing another antivirus program.

go to control panel uninstall programs when list shows up look for Avast right click on it then click uninstall.

Uninstall our software using avastclear

Sometimes it's not possible to uninstall Avast the standard way
- using the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in control panel. In this case, you can
use our uninstallation utility avastclear.
1. Download avastclear.exe on your desktop
2. Start Windows in Safe Mode
3. Open (execute) the uninstall utility
4. If you installed Avast in a different folder than the default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
5. Click REMOVE
6. Restart your computer

No offense taken. I never recommend realtime applications other than a single AV. Without this limitation a user could inundate there system with applications running in the background which would demand resources and possibly conflict with one another. For all the postive service they could provide the potential negativity is there too. A user has to accept some responsibility for awareness, and protection such as frequent scheduled scans. Genes - I did try your suggestions - and the Dell won't power up. Wiggling the adapter didn't make a difference. Kay - I'm curious why Dell thought it might be a battery? And I don't have any steps I can walk you through beyond what Genes outlined. Unfortunately, my Dell won't power up. There are replacement batteries on Amazon for just over $20 - so maybe it's worth trying that in case a Dell just won't power up if the batter is bad - whether it's plugged in or not. --------------------- On a separate note, I did get the battery replacement for my lenovo - and it works. Now I can unplug my laptop and get about 3-4 hours (which isn't great - but running on battery is not what I usually need). I did calibrate it once. Charge it fully - let it discharge fully until it shut off. Then recharged it fully. The battery came with instructions to do that once. I am confused, however, as I thought Li-ion batteries didn't need that at all - and that batteries that do need that need a few cycles of it. So I'm wondering if I should go through a couple of more charge and discharge cycles. Thank you. Lynn.

Zep - I have 3 devices in my network list: 1) 1394 net adapter 2)intel 82566mm gigabit network connection (this one I was able to get an updated driver - but on my network connections, it still shows as local area connection - "network cable unplugged,fire..." and I'm not able to click that and get the rest of the sentence. if I click it it just gives me the name of the adapter. 3) intel wireless wifi link 4965AGN The first and third ones say they are connected and firewalled. I believe that this last wireless 4965AGN is the one that has problems and gets repaired. I could be wrong about that. The LAN one I think has always been unconnected/unplugged. I don't know what that's for or if I need it. Is that my wired internet connection? Thanks. Lynn. PS - if I go through network devices and select update drivers, it only offered updated drivers for the intel 82566mm gigabit network connection. Is there any point in googling for updated driver if this route indicate no new drives exist?

Depending on the age, brand and type of each piece of equipment, what is needed could be a some combination of several different and available plugs/cables/adapters. Without knowing and seeing what you're trying to connect, there's no way to answer your question. To my knowledge, the only "connection type" involving PCs that carries sound AND video is HDMI. Otherwise, you're looking at two connections, one for video and one for audio. What's used for audio out from a PC is usually the headphone jack, using a mini (3.5 mm) plug. The other end could be another mini plug, or RCA plugs, depending on the type of input sockets available on what it's connecting to. What kind of amplifier or sound system do you intend to connect to? Is the projector part of a TV system (and so it has sound too) or are you connecting the sound to something separate?

I just remove it from the add and remove programs. It pulls up the Avast software to remove it. I have never had a problem removing anything that way.

Removing through Add/Remove is OK. Now a days the use of the manufacturer's dedicated removal tool is recognized as more thorough. User's choice.

Add/Remove does not always remove all and even a small file left over sometimes will not allow your new AV to function properly. Do as DA & azinoh state above.

Emma,

If you have CCleaner installed on your system run the registry utility. It would not be unusual to find some orphan entries reported. To remove them, or anything else, using CC is your decision. If you decide to be sure to utilize the offered back up.
