From tulip shade to relaxed shade?

For all you expert seamstresses, please advise:

I have what are learned now are called tulip or London Roman shades in my bay windows:

They are linen and I'm not crazy about them because they look like a bunch of bats flying in my window when they are pulled up --- which they are pretty much all the time.

They look like the one below, only the pleats are further to the middle of the shade, so even more of a bat wing effect because the ends/wings are bigger.

So my question is: Can I change them without a lot of sewing skills into relaxed Roman shades by just sewing the rings on the back to the outside of my blinds, or am I missing something?

Basically like this but with two pleats:
