Where do you store your water?
Comments (12)I feel so lucky to have excellent water (except for it being hard water) in Hawaii. I do however collect rainwater and store them in a line of five gallon buckets connected to each other by plastic tubing (secured on the bottom of each bucket in a continued strand of eight buckets. Providing that the rain isn't gushing out of the funnel, it evenly flows through filling each bucket at a steady equilibrium. After they are filled, I then cover them with their lids and hold them when I need fresh water. The last bucket has a spout that can be flipped up to release and turned off when flipping down. I use rainwater to water wet soils for seedling, sporelings and seed germination starts on my rarer stuff. Rainwater is also excellent to use as a fertilizer solution to hand cup/ladle to each pot for sensitive plants....See MoreWhere do you store your cookware lids??
Comments (16)I also can't figure out how liddy is using that sports rack--I can figure out how to hang the pots, but the lid thing is beyond me. Unless that's not it. I know how this one *could* be used: you could "hang" it on the floor of the cabinet (w/ the screw holes you could even fasten it so it won't move around) instead of on the wall. that makes the little prongs stick straight up, and you stand the lids on their edges between them (like putting plates in the dishwasher). Since the prongs are SHORT (unlike the ones in the dishwasher), the prongs themsevesl don't interfere w/ the curves of the pot lids....See MoreHow do you store your pot lids, especially the glass lids?
Comments (13)Mine are stored as Lars said. The lid is on the pan upside down, And they are stacked. Always have the right lid for the pan that way. My Corning ware is stored the same way. Can't say as I've had any problems with breakage, either. So Dcarch must be right, about them being made of tempered glass. I happen to like glass lids. Have never had a problem seeing through them. Even when they are covered with water droplets, One can still tell how well the contents are simmering, Or sizzling, as the case may be. Rusty...See More42' drawer...too big? Where do you store your fry pans?
Comments (3)Too big? Buy more stuff! Just kidding, but they'll be really nice. You'll want dividers, either ones you do yourself after seeing how items fit, or maybe your cabinet company will provide some. They range from very sophisticated to thingies you bang in and then slide slips of wood into. I think when most people stack frying pans and similar items, they put some kind of pad in between to prevent scratching--a piece of felt, a paper towel, a coffee filter, etc. I haven't in the past and I should. I've also used big plastic storage tubs in drawers and on pullouts to divide spaces. Not pretty, but apropos for Tupperware! Hmm...maybe one could "file" skillets over the fridge cabinet. (Mine are cast iron, so it's a pain to stack them but I really don't want them over my head.) I'm going to try these dividers when I move back in--others have had good luck with them and they are inexpensive: Here is a link that might be useful: dividers...See MoreDebbi Branka
