It was only mid 40's here, but still great. I finally mustered up the courage to ask the neighbors for the huge bag of leaves they've had sitting at their curb since fall. And they perfectly covered the area I needed them to! Yay for composting bravery! Did a LOT of shoveling, added soil to the bed, turned the compost, made two trip for some UCGs (since they accidentally threw them out the fisrt time, ugh). A very productive day. Kim

My grandmother always said, "It's just good clean dirt." & I my own self have noticed that, of all the cousins in my family, the healthiest ones are the ones who ate dirt, got slobbered on by dogs, & lived in houses where the windows were often open. One of my cousins was considered at the time to be the lucky one; his parents had *central air conditioning* in their house, so no extremes of temperature, he was always immaculately clean, his mother's one pet cat wasn't apt to get close to him, & there was no dirt visible on their St Augustine-covered lot. For his entire life, he's had asthma & allergies & a sensitive stomach.

Yes, the others are right ... it's Nicandra aka shoofly aka apple of Peru ... the seed pods are very pretty and seeds are easy to collect, as Vera described ... many small tannish-rust colored seeds in a pod, too ... I haven't been on the forum lately because all I saw on screen was mid September posts -- Carrie's small gardenias, bakemon sneezing in a bowl of seeds, and Donn planting the new beds ... I don't know what happened, but I missed my WS fix ... so glad to see new threads!!

Great spur of the moment trade. Most generous, she helped me replenish my stock of seeds so that I could try a few that I failed in this last year again.
