Comments (14)No grandeur here. Todays issue of my growing up years hometown newspaper has this picture and article on the front page. Country churches were established to provide a place for worship in close proximity to the residents scattered around a certain area. For instance, the Oak Ridge Union Church has served families in the Erhard, McCartney and Oak Ridge areas since 1906 when some men of different denominations determined the need for a central place of worship for everyone; a place where those from various religious persuasions would feel comfortable. As people have moved from the country to towns and cities, and travel is more efficient than the days of horse and buggy, country churches would seem unnecessary. Comments (13)party_music It's Iguassu Falls, on the border of Argentina and Brazil. Its considered by many to be the most impressive waterfalls in the world. It is nearly twice the height of Niagara Falls, and its overall width is nearly three times the width of the Niagara Falls. So I'll share a photo of a bromeliad from my garden. It has been getting a lot of winter sun, so the red is nice right now. John Ware's Cabin, Dinosaur Provincial Park. John Ware was Alberta's first black pioneer. Legendary horseman and rancher. The original homestead was about 10 miles west of where I live. The cabin was moved to the park for preservation.

11 years agoThis is a creek that is about 5 feet above it's normal depth. I love the spring floods - at least of the creeks. They don't stay high for very long.
