All leaves gone, blooming inflos stay?
Comments (2)Felicia, sounds like you got a great Christmas gift last year! Sorry about the pests! When you give them supplemental lighting indoors, the bugs thrive. I wouldn't cut anything off just yet. It's not unusual for them to bloom even after their leaves fall off. Hopefully removing the leaves and the lights will decrease your pest population, but take it outside and spray it down with neem once more before bringing it back in. The bugs also like dry warm conditions. Misting a couple times a day annoys them. They also don't like circulating air, so a fan will help, too. I'm in zone 8b and when we have a stretch of warm days--70's or 80's--I take a bunch of my plumerias outside and leave them until the next cold snap so the hot sun and predatory insects help get rid of the pests. Divine is a well-known water hog, so maybe give her a generous splash of water. Watering during winter is a problem for newly-rooted plumeria, and those that have shut down on their own and are sitting in wet cold soil for long periods, but I water many of mine during winter and they do fine. You just have to keep an eye on each individual plant and see how it's doing. Good luck!...See MoreTesting leave page or stay.

Comments (3)Tye , yes unless your soil is very alkaline then acorns will cause a more acidic soil . I have found them useful for composting , since they accelerate the process . other wise let the Squirrels or Deer and Blue Jays feed on them . As for Pine Needles some people mix them with pine bark nuggets for landscaping beds or perennial beds. I find a blower the most efficient way of recycling them ....See MoreCan a regular jade plant be done as bonsai (so that leaves stay small)
Comments (6)I was not very precise. Defoliation refers to removing a major fraction of leaves. Usually this involves keeping a leaf or two near the tips and removing bulk of the leaves from rest of the branches. The next flush of leaves will be smaller. Usually this will be done at the peak of the Summer sometime in June or even early July. Some even defoliate right when thy bring the plants out from indoors to outdoors in early summer. This way you skip the part of adapting the leaves to brighter conditions. In case of jade though the trunk and branches can burn in direct light if done abruptly without adapting them first. Pinching back also creates smaller leaves but it is more like an ongoing process of shaping and creating more branches. Here we pinch the branch close to next node leaving a tiny stub. In defoliation individual leaves are cut at the petiole leaving the node intact on the branch....See Morecat_ky
