How do I fix sunken trim (drywall over plaster disaster)
Comments (6)UGHHHHH ... What is wrong with people, why do they do that! If plaster is bad enough to drywall instead of repair theplaster, then its bad enough to REMOVE COMPLETELY. Should be easy if its that bad of condition. If its stuck on tight and cant be removed - then just fix the dang plaster! Futzing w/ new trim ... that could be expensive too if you get something milled to be similar to what you have... youd have to build out the windows/doors as well to get the trim to be on top of the drywall. Id almost be tempted to remove the drywall and do it right It is possible to do drywall patches , even quite large depending on the extent of the damage, and not have to remove the trim. But Im afraid it would still be a beast of a job. Sorry Im not much help - you have my sympathies....See MoreHow to fix 1/4" gap in drywall above granite counter
Comments (13)Thanks - unfortunately they are unresponsive and the company no longer exists shortly after finishing the job (we had so much work done to an older house it took me a while to realize the little things that were done poorly - I've learned that lesson of how to choose folks to work on your home the hard way. I realize this seems like a glaring mistake but it was a gap that didn't bother me too much at first, but got worse when we recently had to shim up the counter which was also poorly installed. Thanks for the paintable caulk suggestion - maybe I should try a caulk backing strip (or whatever those are called) and drywall putty if needed for the gouged looking part, then caulk and paint?...See MoreHow to fix drywall flush to the tile schluter
Comments (7)Firstly thank you to all of you for your input and comments. I agree that he is not the best and when we chose him to work on our bath, cost was a huge issue (hopefully it does not turn out costlier now). Secondly, the waterproofing is done correctly and I am attaching a picture of the entire wall for context. Also he is going to fix the hole at the bottom and I will have him add some more drywall to extend down at the bottom near the tile, Thirdly, I plan to have him remove and reattach the tile where you see the hole at the base so it is flush to the tile next to it. My concern here is the uneveness of the wall next to the schluter causing it to look untidy and I wanted to know how that can be fixed from you experts as I may have to guide him to do it. Overall his work has not been great but he fixes items I dont like without complaining which a lot of contractors tend not to do. Some tiling and detailing is still left so what I have attached is still unfinished last steps. Hope this helps and you can guide me on how he can make the overall line of the wall where the blue tape is (near the black arrow), straight so that it does not show so badly. Thank you again for all your help and input my extended experts family!!...See MoreHow to treat the drywall seam on a stairway wall
Comments (4). Ply away the trim. How "off" is off? The trim looks an awful lot like the base board I see left of the door? Skim and drywall are two separate issue. Take it off, it may only need skim coating. In any case, you don't want it. If it's really off? You still don't want that trim - do something very intentional appearing as above or below...See MoreBongo
