Refrigerator without an ice maker

I hear that most of the problems with refrigerators are due to the ice maker. Can someone recommend a refrigerator without one? Looking for something with a large capacity and bottom freezer. Thanks.

Whirlpool. Friend not was allowed to hook up ice-maker.Up-stairs apartment. water leak before. She buys bagged ice and puts in compartment.

I believe you can still get Fisher & Paykel without ice-maker or water cooler. We had a counter depth, bottom freezer without ice maker that was trouble-free for years. Back then FP was still an Australian company. It is now owned by Haier of China and I don't know where the refrigerators are manufactured now (if that makes a difference)

Mominator61: We have had the Electrolux for about 1 month and we are very pleased. It has plenty of room for us and is quiet. This is our first french door model and it was difficult to judge the amount of space, but it clearly has more than enough for the two of us. It is bright inside and you can instantly see everything on the selves. We kept the ice tray in the freezer, its handy for holding little things and is a good place to put glasses when you want a frosty glass. We also like the frozen pizza slot in the door of the freezer. Overall it has a good design. and looks nice flush with our pantries. In our small kitchen it gave us the walking room we needed. I am confident you will like it.

I am considering the CS1200. I called someone that installs them. His main negative was that the fridge may have a tendency to tip forward because it's very light weight. It also tends to move when opening and closing the door. In other words, it's a challenge to keep it held in one place. Is this something any of the owners have experienced? He said sometimes there's a bracket to hold them in place, but that would mean the fridge has to be placed close to the back wall. Placing it close to the back wall may be not work for me because the cut out for the fridge in my house is actually quite wide and deep. But I like small things...I think the stuff that's being sold these days is too big.

No prob. Amazon has the OXO ones, which I've been using since they first came out (can't wait to have my kitchen with the icemaker!). They also keep the ice clean, and keep it from evaporating. These are the half moon shaped ice. Amazon also has the Tupperware one below, which has a hole to fill through (the OXO you fill first, then slide on the lid), and cube shaped ice. Plus they have this wacky "verical" one. Plus they have this one called Orka which says it has a water tight lid (OXO doesn't). But Fine Living is the only place I could find a picture of a bottle. I've seen a different kind in a lot of catalogs.

Hi, First home :) I don't know if the ice maker can be removed. But I do know that you don't have to connect it to the water source and you do not have to turn it on. More space for ice cream!!

We have a 6 year old French Door LG that has been great.

Fortunately, we use very little ice so we don't buy refrigerators with ice makers.

A refrigerator with an ice maker can be operated perfectly fine with the ice maker turned off and not connected to a water supply which takes it completely out of the "problem equation" ... except for a few instances in which the ice maker is integral to proper functioning of the unit as a whole (there was a design years ago that had the defrost timer in the ice maker, I don't know if any manufacturers are doing that nowadays).

What about getting one with the ice maker but without the water dispenser? I hear the water dispenser are prone to breaking.

In some models, the ice maker and water dispenser take up a lot of interior space.
