Comments (4)Paul, I agree with Irawon and yourself that Nancy is a super spring yellow addition to the garden. Even though it changes to lighter green later on, I still appreciate its appearance. I love the waves and the shine. The leaves have great substance and for those with smaller gardens (like myself) the compact size is a positive. This is a great solid (colour) hosta, that I warmly recommend to other hosta growers. I bought mine last season as a small plant after seeing it in a friendâÂÂs garden. IâÂÂd seen pictures on line, but it didnâÂÂt grab my attention in the same way as it did that day. HereâÂÂs a couple of pics that I took moments ago - still a ways to go before it grows to the size of yours, but now it has four eyes. IâÂÂve heard it can take a little time to settle, but when it does, it really takes off. I guess that you would have no complaints on that score, judging by the numbers you posted! Still in its cradle⦠for now! BC...See MorePip's Kitchen - updated photos
Comments (76)Pip, your kitchen is gorgeous. Would you mind telling me what size the backsplash tiles are? They look to be 1x2. Do you know what color grout was used? Do you know if your installer sealed those tiles before grouting? Did you notice the color looked the same or different after it was grouted? I have been searching for white onyx backsplash and what I've found doesnt seem to have as much color variation as yours. I contacted Stone Mill in CA and it is too cost prohibitive to have it shipped to me in MD, so I am trying to find something on this side of the country that comes close. Thanks...See MorePIP...paint in progress
Comments (3)Pesky, you've uncovered my old, early-1970s apartment! My very best "young, single, broke-but-working-two-jobs" apartment had "horrible streaky black/gray" paneling. I was denied the pleasure of black and orange carpeting though. Almost made up for it at this house. My soon-to-be sewing room had bright yellow and harvest gold shag carpeting, glued to the carpet pad, which was in turn glued to the oak floors. The soon-to-be office had the same configuration, except in avocado green. It took DH weeks of sanding and stripping and pulling and wailing and gnashing of teeth, but we'll soon have nice hardwood floors in lovely rooms. You're way ahead of the game. Do the happy dance!...See MoreRhino Hide rotted pips
Comments (5)Sorry to bump this up again. I dug it up and just tossed it. The roots looked good, but nothing at the soil line looked good. There almost wasn't anything there. I'm not too worried that it was a disease, although I'm pretty far from an expert in the matter. :[) I live in the Twin Cities. I got the hosta at the Friends Plant Sale, which I think is very reputable, and it's the first thing I've ever bought there that has failed. I think I might have watered the plant too much, or it took a hit because the night after I planted it, it was very, very cold. Just guessing. But it wasn't worth it to me for whatever risk there was. That being said...I have a small hole in my yard. IF there was something going on, what would I do in that spot to make it safe to put another plant? I know removing dirt, but do you put anything else in? Should I let it breathe for a little, then fill it in, or just fill it in? How soon till I can safely put in another plant? Thanks to all the people here who know more than me! :)...See Moresunnywood4bChazyNY
