Does anyone have any experience using ikea boxes with barker drawers and doors? I am thinking of using boxes from ikea and getting all the drawers with the blumotion hardware and ikea door hinges. I took a trip to ikea to this weekend and took some measurements and it seems I should be able to get barker doors that are sized right for the ikea boxes. I should also be to size barker drawers for the ikea boxes with barker drawer panels. It seems real straight forward. Just curious if anyone has done this. As a FYI, the ikea door hinge placement is an exact match with barkers 3" door hinge drill out, and the drawers since baker will cut to width to an exact match doesn't really matter.

I used Barker cabinets (painted on site) and it was a great experience. Chad Barker is a great guy and steps up to answer questions, solve problems, and makes you feel like you are his only customer. The quality of the cabinets is excellent and the assembly is so easy. We are really happy with ours.

There have been requests for photos and so far, not too many, so I'll throw mine in. Vision points... What I was 'after': - Functional goals: Room for our whole family of 10 to hang out and work together without getting in each other's way...Work Zones and multiple work spaces. A separate room so kitchen mess, noise, etc. is confined and not experienced from other rooms. - A 'baker's kitchen'. One that looks like you should smell bread baking in the oven and see pies cooling on the counter. This is what I fell in love with in looking at white kitchens, while all the time knowing white kitchens weren't for me. I had to figure out what else it was that was drawing me. - One my kids would think was cool and my grandma's would've loved, too... A good mix of contemporary lines, well-performing appliances, all while feeling welcoming and homey. Barefoot appropriate. Where the kids and friends, and eventually grandkids, want to hang out and bake. - A little bit of the outside in. I wanted to be able to sit at my kitchen table and feel relaxed... Like the feeling of sitting on the sun-warmed and sun-bleached rocks along a river...with the feeling of a sunny day in the trees. (The stone behind the stove was supposed to represent the feel of those sun-bleached rocks, so that's why it was a disappointment for them to be more varied with some darker shades.) - I also needed to have a surprise of boldness and artistic flair. That's where the stronger color comes in along one side, and the variation in materials and, particularly, backsplash. Lascatx helped me be brave enough to show this side of myself in an otherwise fairly traditional, farmy type kitchen that was designed to suit our 2007 version of an American Foursquare home. You can see I asked a lot of it! LOL. And it delivers, pretty well for us. After 3 1/2 years it's still a bit of a work in progress. Island needs to be finished after I redesigned it to replace doored cabinets with drawers, need a new drawer front under the newest oven, and the upper trim needs to be done. Thanks again for the additional comments and suggestions! We already have the oven - it's a GE single/double model that my DH fell in love with and grabbed on major floor model sale. To be honest, it would not have been my first choice aesthetically, but he's the primary cook M-F and this was a big thing for him. So whatever we do, that oven has to work. mtnrdredux, I'm surprised at how much I like the turquoise - definitely going to get samples in that range and try them out! sophie123, your kitchen sounds beautiful! Dunsmore cream is a lovely shade, I can see that going well with the marine blue. Thanks for the heads-up about the paint. It's funny, I noticed that the marine blue was a little different to work with just when I was painting cardboard samples. I guess I'd call it a little streakier. I'll almost certainly be painting the cabinets myself, and although I have a great deal of experience refinishing and painting furniture, I don't want to make things more difficult for myself than they need to be.
