The grass reminds me of Oryzopsis asperifolia. The female spikes on the sedge are way too long for Carex pensylvanica, the leaves are too wide, and the habitat is wrong. Thought it looked like C. scabrata at first but it's not that either. Best way to get an ID is wait for the spikes to mature and then key it out.

I refer to it as The Flower From Hell after I heard a friend call it that. Beware...do not let it infest your soil, as digging it out is about the only way to get rid of it. I did however read a study made by Purdue University that found that spraying with Paraquat will kill if off approximately 70% in one season. To purchase or use Paraquat requires special licensing here in Indiana. I won't be using it...but will just continue my digging from about late Feb, until sometime in May or early June when all sign of the foliage disappears when the bulbs go dormant. I am curious about reversions myself and have some studying to do. However I don't believe that bananas revert. I know that on variegated Japanese Maples if a branch reverts you must cut it off as it will continue to grow green and will be more vigorous. Blood Grass is the same, the reverted sprouts will crowd out the good colored shoots. I suppose anything can happen but I have never seen any of my bananas change their coloration. I only have a few but have not heard of it from anyone else. So hopefully they will color up soon and someone please correct me if I'm incorrect.
