My very first 'Terrarium' and need advice on watering.

So this is my first time doing Terrarium, and i want to ask how much and when and how often should i water the plant? it doesnt have any holes and its my first time. the center mix is 90% pumice 10% soil. the outside part is 100% volcanic rock i think, i dont know its name but in Indonesia its called "Pasir Malang". the bottom is pebbles. i live in Indonesia the temperature is 33 c day 25- 29 by night. thank you guys :)

My first terrarium
Comments (32)Webkat5, Thanks! I would love to have a 75 gal. aquarium to work with. Unfortunately I don't have one and if I did I don't think my wife would let me set it up. We live in a pretty small house and the shelf space to contain a 75 gal. terrarium just doesn't exist without getting rid of several other plants. at the moment I will just have to be content with this one. But with a 75 gal. aquarium one could do some really interesting stuff. He/she wouldn't have to be concerned with only miniature plants, but would be able to have some standard size plants also. And imagined the size branch one could use and utilize. I'm already mapping the thing out in my brain. lol I had better stop before I go out and buy the aquarium. ;o) Nature Lover, again, that is very generous of you to say. I think that is the whole idea of having a terrarium. To make it look like a little piece of rain forest that has been carefully lifted out and put into a glass box. Like tootswisc said that she would like to take a hike in there. I would love to take a hike in a place that look like this. Maybe even bring a picnic lunch. Comments (5)you can buy cork bark panels from blackjungle to fit your dimensions, that would probably be the easiest. I am constructing a vivarium now, and a lot of people use this method, you place your wood, pots, whatever on the back of the glass and then cover with Great Stuff (expandable foam), then when that dries you put silicone (GE II, bronze color if you can find it, make sure it does not contain mold inhibitor) over that and place something in the silicone before it dries. Choices are bark, gravel, aquarium sand, anything really to make it have a background. It will give you a very nice, natural looking background, and you can put air plants on the branches that you have sticking out of the background. Comments (15)Gesneriads are a family of plants that includes african violets, episcas, sinningias, gloxinias, kohleras, chiritas, petrocosmeas, streptocarpus, etc. The good news for you, Mr. B, is that these plants are generally quite small, and take up little space! They also need less light than orchids (in general). And yes, you must have at least a couple! =) They are very enjoyable plants that flower more than orchids, are easier to take care of, and are cheaper. Comments (14)Your window in the background can help some with light, unless it faces north...then not much help at all. Keep the blinds open except at night. Only a very small container type tomato will work. But if you started from seeds it will be awhile before a larger variety needs to be moved. Depending on your location, perhaps it could go outside in a large pot then. Watering will take more than a spray bottle. You want your soil moist, but not soggy throughout. Stick your finger in a couple inches and check the moisture. A spray bottle may wet the surface and fool you into thinking the soil is moist, but down an inch or two could be very dry. Gently pouring water around the edges of the containers until the plants are larger will get them the water they need without disturbing the tiny plants. Fertilizer won't be needed immediately, but later you can greatly dilute it and water with that. I've thought it would be fun to try a stacking planter like you have. Looks like a good set up for lots of small herb varieties when used with good lighting. Maybe I'll stack one on my patio next summer....See Morekizasugondo
