Link font color

Does anyone else have trouble differentiating links from the rest of the text? There is very little difference in color to me, and I keep missing links. I think that they should either be underlined, or a very different color. Is there still a Gardenweb suggestion forum?

The colors on GW/Houzz are as screwed up as that white/gold, black/blue dress from Buzzfeed.

I just tried a new Stylish theme, and links are underlined. (Garden Green) Yay!

Yes, I keep missing links as well. The green isn't dark enough from the light black of the normal text. And on GW they were in a specific spot whereas here they could be anyold place within the posters text.

I right click on the desktop, click on personalize, windows color, then advanced settings. You click on the area you want to change and the options will come up. If you are using Firefox, install the ad on called "no squint" and you will have an option in it. I find the whites so hard on my eyes, I like to change backgrounds to a pastel. The only thing I have been able to change is the first page in WLmail.

Try setting the background color to something light -- Windows will pick a contrasting color based off the background color vs. the image, if I remember right.

I'm not familiar with LaFont, but can relate to dismay at burning your "good" pots making hummingbird syrup! I don't know if it would work with your Le Creuset pot, but a heavy dose of baking soda with water, repeated twice, worked for my stainless steel pot. The second time I just left it for "ages" though, as I thought it wasn't working.... and when I came back to it, the water had evaporated and the black burned syrup mostly peeled off. Then a little more scrubbing at the pot was good to go. After that I started making my hummer syrup by boiling the water separately, then adding to the sugar to dissolve.... much simpler! I often make it right in empty Mason jars so don't need to use another container to measure. Just thought you might like to consider that method, if you're nearly as forgetful as me.

We don't have a 'sticki' feature on this forum to keep posts at the top. We do have a FAQ link but it's not often used and attempts to update it haven't been successful. You can click on "clip this post" on the right side of the page where you see the little leaf and scissors "Clippings" logo. This will save a post to your personal clippings so you can access it again anytime without searching for it. Kate

And I suspect the green links are more visible on some devices than others. On my PC using Firefox there's not a big difference between the black text and the green links, but on my DH's PC using Chrome, there is hardly any difference at all. It's awful. I never had any trouble seeing links clearly before, on either computer.

I'll have to try Stylish, I think...

If we don't 'name' a link, it defaults to the URL--maybe more recognizable as a link? Or a bold (link: Just a random sunset pic.)? Or in the text 'link below' then add the link at the bottom, similar to old GW format? Anything to set it apart.

I haven't been doing anything to call attention to the links because I can see them easily.

Those are all really good ideas mama_goose, thank you. I've been setting my links apart from the regular text, but you're right, letting the regular URL show is probably a good idea. And adding the word "link" and doing the link in bold, is even better (hadn't thought of that.)

Interesting how the readability of the links varies for all of us. I hadn't tried my DH's PC until a few days ago, and it helped me to understand why some people are missing so many links. On his computer, for some reason, the green links have an almost olive green hue...they really blend in to the black text, and they don't look like links, intuitively.

I'm going to start using your ideas if I add links to posts.

mamagoose - I like the idea of using bold to bring attention to the link. I will try that.
