Silestone quartz counter price, what do you think?
Comments (7)Thank you all very much for your responses. Featherbee and DrB I think getting one more quote is a good idea. It can't hurt anything. I told our contractor today I was thinking I might get another quote. KitchenPlace, thank you also. It might get me if I have to go up to 3 slabs because I'll have to purchase it all of course but then I'll have extra to go up the wall behind the cooktop. I'm trying to see the silver lining if I have to go up in price!...See MoreSilestone Charcoal Soapstone suede finish
Comments (57)@Beth Would you mind posting photos of your completed kitchen? The marble slab photo you posted above in this thread is GORGEOUS! I’ve been a “stalker” on Houzz now for awhile - you give some of the best advice I’ve read on here - especially when someone desperately needs help trying to pull elements together (many times bc some element has not turned out to be exactly what the person was expecting - and he/she is GREATLY disappointed). You consistently present great ideas - and, obviously, spend a lot of time helping people out. You are my favorite contributor! Comments (19)I can only comment on your statement that manufacturers wouldn't manufacture problematic stuff. I certainly wouldn't rely on that in terms of what are cosmetic issues of maintenance. People use counters in all kinds of different ways. Many people never cook and therefore could use high maintenance materials with no issues. Some people have housekeepers who clean. Others have different standards so fingerprints and splotches wouldn't bother them. Not the same thing but I am having marble counter installed in my master bath. I know it is higher maintenance than porcelain might be but my use for the master bath is not as hard as it might be for others since I live alone - don't dye my hair and I also am fine with the marble acquiring a patina. FWIW, I opted for honed marble floor and counter both for appearances and also because to the extent it etched, it would be less noticeable with a honed surface. Other people might make different choices of a material based on how they are using the room and also what their tolerance is for normal wear and tear....See MoreCharcoal silestone suede finish looks blue green
Comments (4)I've posted about this a couple of times over the past few years. Our store got a display top in the glossy version and it looks even MORE blue than the suede version. We picked it out when it was new thru our rep...so we only saw it in a brochure, not a sample piece. We were very disappointed in how blue it looked once installed. I think Silestone's brochure shows it looking quite charcoaley....in reality, it's not black or charcoal of any kind, it's definitely blue. Very deceptive name for the color it is. They need to address this or change the name to Blue Soapstone.
