Appliance Budget -$15k. How to spend?

We have $15k in our appliance allowance. We need a dishwasher, 36" rangetop, vent hood, 30" double wall oven and microwave. We will be reusing our refrigerator and wine refrigerator.

I am pretty serious cook and was leaning toward the blue star range top with vent a hood. Which blue star do most recommend, platinum series? Not much of a baker so I was thinking maybe a singe wall oven with convection microwave, instead of double oven with a drawer microwave in the island. The wall oven options and combinations seems endless and confusing.

Also leaning towards a Bosch dishwasher.

How would you spend this budget?

I am in the process of doing a lot of research as well since we are about to break ground - I would look at the Wolf M Series single oven and matching convection MW (that piece does not come out until Q3 however - so no pricing out yet at least in the Transitional line), also looking at the 36 inch Platinum BS range top, ventahood hood, and the Miele dw - this set up for those pieces has me in the $12K range before any taxes, etc - so you should be able to pick out some nice pieces for your $15K budget given the limited number of pieces you are looking for. I am basing my prices on quotes from AJ Madison on some pieces and local retailer on others that Madison can not supply due to manufacturer agreements (Wolf)

Looks like we have done the same research and have come to generally the same conclusions. Unfortunately I don't think we can wait on the Wolf M series MW. What would be your 2nd choice?

In my opinion, splurging on the range or rangetop and ovens is the right choice - there is often a big difference in capabilities. Others will disagree, but generally a fridge is a fridge and a DW is a DW with less important differences. With regard to Monogram vs. Profile - it depends on the appliance. In some cases, like the ranges, the products are very different and the Monogram are significantly better. In other cases, like microwaves, they're often the same product with a different faceplate. You need to research each appliance individually.

Hey Plum, I think that depends on how many you are replacing or adding as the case may be. I am replacing everything..regular Fridge, DOven, DW, downdraft cooktop, Disposer but replacing with Built In fridge, DW, SO and Convection MW (instead of DO), range top (I think) with telescopic downdraft, disposer, and adding a WD. I had hoped to spend 10k but it looks more like it will closer to $14-$15. I blew a bunch of it on the fridge even though I got a great deal. My Project manager had told me the most expensive thing is cabinets, then appliances, then rock. If you ask me, it's him that is the most expensive 'cause he has great taste. Me, I have champagne taste and a beer budget! Of course, there is a ton of variation in cost of all those things....I cook a lot (2 of my children have severe food allergies) so unlike one of my friends, I actually use my oven... not use it for cereal storage. I like some of the high end stuff, too...sigh.....

Heat rises. Wall oven heat can damage microwave electronics. Heat from MW will do nothing to wall oven. The Elux countertop MW is $1k and has no styling cues that match the oven, it is the trim kit that matches the oven. If getting a countertop MW place it away from the wall oven and get a Sharp or Panasonic for $200 or less. If you want the wall oven and the microwave in the same location you should get a drawer and put in underneath the wall oven, Sharp 24" drawer $790 Sharp 30" drawer $815 The drawer has better ergonomics and looks better built-in. BTW My first made in the USA sharp lasted 17 years. 2nd was 8 years old when I gave to nephew. These drawers are made in the USA.

The OP can stay within the allowance and get a Culinarian-SZ Miele packagae. The difference in real estate value between GE 30" Range and a Wolf 30" is significant. The difference in real estate value between a 48" Wolf+42 SZ + Miele Inspira and a 48" Culinarian + 42 SZ + Miele Inspira is not significant. The chances of a buyer finding a 48" Culinarian a deal breaker or a buyer who demands a discount becasue there are no red knobs are just good as finding a buyer who really knows ranges and values the Culinarian. If you have never used the best or know about the best and buy a very good range of course you will be happy. But you would be even happier having the best. So marginally more snob appeal or the best cooking machine? Seems like a no brainer.

I would look at the Electrolux wall oven. Wolf has redesigned their wall ovens but we have no idea if that will fix the blue enamel chipping or it will occur later as it seems to do in the DF ranges. I bake quite a bit and the Electrolux functions about as well as my oven in my Wolf range. It has been redesigned a bit too in that it now has dual fans. Someone made the comment that the door is thinner. It is also less expensive than the Wolf.

I was also looking at the Bosch Benchmark side swing door oven with the matching convection MW - they may still be in the running because of things like wekick mentions above related to the Wolf

Your budget is close to what ours was - we have purchased our appliances (aside from dw) Our home is not complete yet - but after a lot of reading, calls to manufacturers, visits to showrooms and GW advice we chose 36" culinarian range top, bosch sideswing double ovens, 42" vent a hood.

We are still looking into the dw - we have tall deep dishes and they do not fit nicely in meile. we may look at bocsh.
