Hi Ben….looks like your fungus spray burnt your leaves a bit….leaf necrosis from chemical burns…you mentioned that it is summer there which will make for hotter conditions on the leaf surface than during cooler months. Only mist the plant with sprays when the sun is down so it has less of a chance of the sun's heat accelerating any sensitivity to the spray, also don't soak the plant so it is dripping with spray..leaves are the lungs :)…hope this helps….

D'oh. The instructions said to soak until dripping, so I blame them, lol.

What about the purple patches (second picture), am I right in assuming that this is from powdery mildew?

I am surprised that you got a fungus, blue berries usually don't. Here in North Ga. with high humidity I never see any signs of fungus on my blueberries. They do at times get some dieback which has to be cut off and discarded. Make sure that your PH is around 4.3. That makes a major difference.

I don't think the blueberries got fungus. I think the OP is spraying a fungus preventative. Some people neglect their plants to death, some people love them to death. I think this falls in the latter. I would hose off whatever is on that plant and leave it alone.

The copper on the plant is not the problem. You certainly don't want to remove it. The purple color and brown spots which was on the plant before copper was sprayed is. I'm not sure what it is? Most of the blueberry experts seem to have left for another forum. It could be a root problem. make sure roots are covered with a mulch, keep away from stem. Make sure it is not too wet or too dry. This might be a case of the roots drying out too much. Some times parts of leaves die when this happens.

The brown patches have only appeared since i sprayed with the copper, so potentially that is the issue.

I was spraying due to the purple patches, maybe I should check the root zone. I was going to re-pot into 5-1-1 mix in Autumn.

It has got bark on for mulch and the soil always seems moist (very rarely have to water them). The bark mulch may be up against them stem, should I remove this?

Also just checked the PH (with PH wand thing) and it was about 5.2 and my other one was 5.9/6. I used flower of sulphur last time to lower the PH, should I used it again?

The ideal PH for blueberries is 4.3. I would add a little more sulfur to lower the PH some more. What % of sulfur are you using, 30% or 90%?

The purple may be some damage to roots, if it is a new plant. Let is settle in and all. Often new plants can have root damage and can show up in the leaves. The color looks good. As long as new growth looks OK, you should be OK. Yes you can add some sulfur but keep in mind it takes 6 months to fully work, even longer sometimes. You also need to make sure water is acidic too. If you put it in 5-1-1, do not add lime. Add sulfur, and gypsum is ok. Also avoid fertilizer with nitrates. You want urea, or ammonium forms of nitrogen.

I have had it bang on a year I would say. It has lots of new growth, but sometimes the new growth has crumples and little bits of the leaves die (like it has dried out and just turns to dust). We had a very wet spring, so that could have impacted the roots.

The sulphur is 100% from what I can tell, but that won't be a quick fix.

What do you add to the water to make it acidic, vinegar? how much?
