Yes the JA speed oven is 240V. But no, accounts from owners say that their bridge is not actually true. LG also has a bridge function, but I'm not sure if its "true" either. If you really care about that your best bet is Bosch FlexInduction.

One of the JA dishwashers is made for them by Bosch. If you don't like their other offerings that's always an option.

I do like that the JennAir speed oven has a lot of preprogrammed modes which the Benchmark doesn't, but other than that it sounds like the Bosch package is better for you. This smells like a salesman trying to get a better commission/spiff.

Your last line was exactly my thought. Which is weird when I was willing to spend more money on the Benchmark setup! I do wish I could go see the benchmark line in person but they're not installing theirs for a few more weeks. I might see if anyone has a display in Denver.

Generally, what are the feelings on here about ordering from one of the large online groups like AJ Madison? They're decently cheaper than my local shop and I wouldn't have sales tax. But I wasn't sure what their track record was if I had issues.

That's interesting because that's exactly what the salesman did to me . Pushed JennA really hard even though I told him my interest was with Bosch. You didn't happen to go to a shop in Louisville, CO did you;-) would definitely like to know what you are considering . I just haven't found enough positive comments to justify and feel comfortable going Jenn A.

Interesting 6616! No I was at Shouse Appliances in Colorado Springs. They're installing an enormous Bosch Benchmark demo wall beginning in 2 weeks to showcase many of the new products. I honestly just assumed that Jenn Air provided better promotions to them. For myself, I just haven't quite considered Jenn Air at the same level of quality as Bosch but maybe I'm wrong...like I said, I was very impressed with the speed oven and convection wall oven. The dishwasher was just ok to me.

If JennAir gives good spiffs, there's got to be a reason for it and I have a guess why. I think it goes back to the history of the brand. Decades ago they were considered a very high quality upscale manufacturer, but Maytag bought them, and when Maytag went down they brought JennAir with them. Reliability, innovation and overall consumer impressions of the brand were at an all-time low. When Whirlpool bought it they had quite the project on their hands. They poured millions into the brand and redesigned/retooled the entire JennAir line, especially the cooking. But with such a poor reputation, they needed to get people buying the stuff again, hence all the promotions, package deals and presumably, spiffs.

JennAir has sold dishwashers for a long time but in their whole history they have never manufactured their own. They have always rebadged other products. Currently most of their models are rebadged KitchenAid (probably the one you looked at), but they have one model that is rebadged Bosch.

I have heard the the Jenn Air Induction cooktop is not a real bridge. We are looking into getting the Bosch 37" Flex induction cooktop - but the cutout hole is 1" bigger than the industry standard of 33" which makes me a little nervous. Down the road, if or when it fails (and you know it won't last 20 years) hopefully if can be replaced with something with the same cut out. Good luck!

Ultimately, there is no such thing as a "true bridge" - from any induction cooktop vendor. Now and forever. Why? Because induction cooking is magnetic coil technology (you will see that used a number of places). And what is a magnetic coil? It's a metal based magnetic winding (hence the term coil...). On any one coil the entire coil is either on or off at varying percentages of power. But it is not possible to only power the right or left of the coil. The understanding of the definition of a coil is very important here (and a square or a triangle isn't in the cards with our present technology). A coil is wound, ideally in a circle, less than ideally in an oval (but it still works to a point). Induction bridges are merely two or more coils placed closely enough together that they can be operated as one. Hopefully then, whatever cooking apparatus you are using across the coils has enough absorption characteristics to overcome the gap in-between. There is also no such thing as a true full-surface or flex induction cooktop. Instead what you have on the best units is a huge number (47 some odd as I recall) of approximate 3" to 4" coils jammed together as closely as electronic interference technology allows (don't touch!). These then combine with auto-sense technology (which reads if a magnetically attracted whatever is in the proximity perimeters), and sends the power to those affected coils. If we have too large of a coil then we cannot be flexible. If we have too small of a coil we have poor contact coverage characteristics (because all coils have center holes, like a donut).

Secondly, regarding Jenn-Air. Jenn-Air heavily promotes multi-unit purchases with very real end-user discounts. That's the brand's schtick. This allows discounts that the retailer is otherwise unable to give. I suspect it is this reason the salesperson is pushing it, because it allows him to deliver a less than MSRP deal that the sales guy down the street can't get his head around - hence it is a sales advantage without any spiffing going on. Having said all that, JennAir is currently a higher-end brand and product for the most part than Bosch Benchmark. Bosch is still the Volkswagen, despite being a very fine one! Their Thermador brand is their American counter to SubZero/Wolff - think Audi, and their Gagganau brand is a cross between the Audi S and the Bugatti Veyron. Jenn-AIr is Whirlpool's version of the BMW M series and Mercedes AMG combined. Kitchenaid is the regular BMW/Mercedes, and Whirlpool is the Volkswagen. Maytag and Amana are currently fosters.

Thirdly, hardly anyone buys a Jenn-Air dishwasher alone. That should tell you almost everything. They have some from Kitchenaid, some from DCS, and at least one from Bosch. But it's not their thing. So unless the combo deal makes it right - buy another. BUT - the combo deal might be wonderful! We have a Kitchenaid, some Miele's, and a DCS drawer model - and like the DCS a bunch (despite others having issues). We also like the Miele's. The EU placed energy restrictions on dishwashers there long before our congress did. As a result IMO models originally built for the continent are superior to those developed stateside at this time (sadly).

Thanks zeetree! So you're saying even the new bosch benchmark induction with the 2 burners touching isn't a true bridge? I.E. there will still be cold spots even with a large roaster or griddle on both burners?

Oops - right and wrong. There may or may not be cold spots. If so I suspect they will be minor. It really depends on both the unit AND the cookware. I should add that the new Bosch Benchmark is very good induction technology - as good as it gets. It is the same as the Thermador and Gaggenau induction technology which is world class. I think it will be even better when they fully bring in the Siemens design knowledge in these later this year (the purchase of the balance of Siemens appliance unit by Bosch was just announced last week).

Of course there's no such thing as a true bridge on induction if you're being nitpicky. The million dollar question is: do Bosch's 4 inductors work better than JennAir's 2? Intuition would seem to indicate yes, but hard to say one way or another unless we hear from someone who's tried both. I remember one poster here a while back being disappointed with hot spots on JennAir induction with a Chef King griddle.

So I guess I need to determine how often I would really need that size burner or is it just one of those things I get caught up in thinking I truly need...

I just pulled the trigger on the GE Profile Induction - Wanted the Bosch 37" Flex, but well, I saved $1000 and it won't kill me to do without all the bells and whistles. Hope it was a good decision!!! Good luck! I think that more and more induction cooktop choices will be coming in the next few years. And it worried me that Bosch has a bigger cut out hole than any other manufacturer. I wonder if they were in a board meeting and said "lets make our cut out hole bigger, so customers can't even switch from our brand..." I know that sounds cynical !! :)
