Some people are sticklers for same-ness, but this wouldn't bother me if I were a guest in your home. I might not even notice the difference. However, if it were my kitchen and I got something different than I ordered, it would bug the heck out of me every time I saw it. What sas said: No way would I pay to fix something that was my original request. What does the contract say? That's what you should get at the price you agreed to. If it costs more to fix, the cabinetmaker should eat it. The builder we're working with said from the beginning: "If something's off, I will make it right." Luckily we haven't had to test that statement, but that's the level of service I would expect if you have a contract. Good luck! Get what you want.

In my (more than 20 years) experience, polished nickel does not have any greater tendency to stain than any other metal used in faucet fixtures, if the fixtures are a higher grade manufacture. In general it is better to stick to one metal finish as much as possible however, the range hood is a "WOW" factor and can be treated as such....a stand alone piece that has a different metal finish.

how prominent is the island in size and detail for your space? the perimeter Ikea choice is fine.....I might look closer at island cabinets you've picked and perhaps consider Scherrs doors for those drawers/doors...they can be painted and sent to you done or painted after you receive them .....Ikea still does not have full range of size offerings.....if the island can be improved with some different dimensions and details maybe consider some carcass options also from Scherrs to get it exactly the way you want. Lots of choices . don't paint an Ikea supplied door front in foil . Order MDF from another source. I wouldn't paint the Ikea fronts that could be painted[wood] because their finishes are really durable and they look pretty good.....source some fronts so you can choose a color and get it done properly. This may cost more but again if the island is a big part of your design I'd not hesitate to spend to do these things to achieve a better result.
