FYI - YouTube - Many Greenhouse videos
Comments (3)We recently bought the 8X12 Sunglo from Costco. I didn't have time to put it togather so I had a friend who is a carpenter build it. It took him 25 hours to get it done. The written instructions are hard to follow but the video was better. He had his wife help him thru the whole project and said it would have been hard with out a second person. For the electric it came with a plug for the 220 but he put a regular 220 outlet in. The outside of the end pieces are hard to bend into place by what the video shows but if you do it like the book says it's easier. The greenhouse is very nice and is very sturdy....See MoreYouTube Video from Florida Backyard Farm: How to Grow Amaryllis
Comments (12)Laurier, I think I can explain what you are missing. Northwest Florida is very similar to my climate and not at all like Central or South Florida which rarely has frosts or freezes. The difference is that you have your seedlings in a more controlled (warmer temperature) environment. The person producing the video is obviously letting them grow outside in pots all year around with minimal protection from the cold. This means that they will definitely go into dormancy from around Thanksgiving (or perhaps before) until March each year. In pots, they will be dormant even longer than they would in the ground. Certainly, seeedlings will bloom in less time if kept in a warmer environment with more light than our winters tend to provide. The tradeoff is in the numbers of seedlings that you can grow outside, in pots, as opposed to inside or in a temperature controlled greenhouse under lights. I hope that helps you to understand the difference in growth rates. Larger numbers with slower growth outside vs. smaller numbers inside, under lights... They appear to be giving the pod parent name with no indication of pollen parents. In my opinion, that is better than giving a pod parent name and saying it is crossed with the pollen of an unlikely cross due to insufficient controls and documention. We all have a lot to learn. I started learning hybridizing daylilies. That made it easier to understand hippeastrum. BTW, daylilies are the same in regards to dormancy in seedling years. If you can manage to keep them warm and under lights during that first year or two, they will bloom much quicker. Hope that helps... Ann...See MoreDownload Youtube Videos.
Comments (9)What a coincidence! I tried to post a message a few minutes ago and got a message about cookies. I took a break, went to KT, posted with no problem, and came back here to try again. I found that I no longer have Flash Player. Somewhere in all the troubles I had recently it must have been deleted. I have tried to get it by clicking on a video that has a small box that says click here to download Flash Player. I download it but then I get a red box that tells me to read the agreement, which I've not found. I did get a list of Flash programs and I clicked on the version 10. It just sits there downloading endlessly. I went to FF addons and found this. Download YouTube Videos + Flash Video Downloader / Download-Helper 3.3.1 So, that is what I need? In Control Panel I have Adobe Reader 9.3.4. which is used for my church newsletter. Will I lose that if I get Flash Player? Firefox default browser. Comments (21)Yes same as firefox 3----- no it will not replace IE6 you will just have an extra browser an that's good to have for trouble shooting like now. The only time IE6 is replaced is if you install another IE browser. Like IE7 OR IE8 So give it a shot nothing to loose and maybe things to gain....See More- 11 years agolast modified: 11 years ago
