New Format?
Comments (45)Did not like how long and hard it was to figure out how to get on here again but I managed somehow. I hate change too and don't particularly like this look but, like most things, we'll get used to it eventually. The only thing I really dislike is how hard it is to get from one forum to another. I was over in Roses and wanted to get here to Antiques and I had to go all the way home and find the garden forums and then find the Antique Roses, which wasn't under Roses but off separate. Haven't tried looking for any of the others yet but I think there really has to be an easier way. I regularly went to all the rose forums on GW and I really miss the row of links at the top of the screen we had there. I did a test post of pictures and you can add more than one photo right from your computer. However, you have to add them one at a time into the post. You can just click on 2 or 3 at once and add them. One at a time is all you can do. It is possible to put text in between them but navigating around to do that isn't very easy either. When you add a photo and then try to add text or another photo enter and using the arrow keys keeps jumping me back to the top of the post instead of going to a line below the added photo. Takes many tries to get it to go down instead of up to the top again. I heard you could add up to 4 photos to one post. Let's see! Three four! Shall we go for five and see what happens? Nope 4 is it. When I tried to click on the photo insert icon it wouldn't open. By the by, when you make a post with photos they come up smaller and when you run your cursor over them they enlarge. Later on that goes away and they just show up regular size in your post. Also when you post there is a small pencil icon that shows up in the upper right hand corner of your post that allows you to make edits to your post....See MoreThe new format
Comments (132)I think it's better for all involved that they didn't announce that the forum was changing. Imagine if they had put a thread saying that on the old board. There would be a lot of complaining and people threatening to leave if it happened. People would get so worked up over something they didn't know anything about other than it was "different" and there's no way people would enter into the new site with an open mind. At least this way, people don't have the pre-conceived hostilities influencing their judgement. Several people have remarked that they didn't like it the first day but by the second and third days it became much easier. If this was announced in advance, I'm sure there would be many people who wouldn't even give the new site a chance because they had already decided it was bad without actually seeing it. Speculating about an undesired change is almost always worse than the actual change....See MoreSpec sheet format for new build?
Comments (8)On second thought... you might be better off with a room finish schedule. A relatively simple spreadsheet that shows for each room your selection for each surface N,S,E,W walls, floor and ceiling plus anything else you might need to select for that room such as plumbing fixtures. I would add a column for the allowance the builder gives you and the actual price of the selection to see how you're doing with your budget. This will only be a benchmark because there will be a lot you won't be accounting for like waste factors, installation labor, trim pieces for tile etc. but, it should give you a framework to work with....See MoreI DO NOT LIKE this new format
Comments (1)I don't like it because if I open my notifications in a new page, there is no way back here except to click on one of the titles here and then go back to the main page....See Moretcamp30144(7B N.ATLANTA)
