Medicare and Fully Electric Hospital Beds

I have a prescription from my mom's doctor for a fully electric hospital bed that includes the electronic variable height adjustment. The Medical Supply company says that Medicare never pays for the electric variable height feature and that they will charge us $450.00. Medicare will cover 80% and the supplemental insurance the other 20%. I found a .gov website that says Medicare will pay in well -documented cases when the patient suffers from arthritis of the lower extremities. Mom has bad arthritis - bone on bone knees. The variable height feature is exactly why she needs the bed. I plan to call Medicare next week but have not had good luck getting answers from them.

Has anyone had luck getting medicare or their insurance to pay for the electronic variable height feature?
