OTR Microwave with filler pieces on sides
Comments (0)Hi, I know there are a lot of strong opinions against OTR microwaves, so please don't try to dissuade me from this and kindly help me with my question, because I am already set on the OTR Microwave. Thanks. I'm getting a GE 36" cooktop over a GE 30" wall oven. Over that we were set to order a GE 36" OTR microwave which has just been discontinued. My options then are either a KitchenAid 36" OTR microwave (not a bad match, and the other appliances are KitchenAid anyway, but not ideal), or a GE 30" microwave that matches the oven completely, and also buy the GE filler kit to go on either side. The filler kit is only available in black or white. Although I can see the filler kit on the GE website, there are no pics of it installed. Has anyone seen or had a 30" OTR microwave with 3" fillers on either side? I want to know how bad black fillers will look on a stainless/black microwave. Comments (14)Nope. I mean, sure, it won't melt the microwave, but as has been said before, OTR microwaves are dangerous just from being OTR and have woefully insufficient vents, especially if they're recirculating. And that's the good ones. :) What free means is that they have to give them away to get rid of them. :) To be fair, it is also possible that it's just a way of stimulating sales by giving a freebie, the way Thermador gives away dishwashers. Easier than doing a price reduction. People are a lot less sensitive to the end of a giveaway promotion than a return to regular price....See More30 inch range hood to replace OTR microwave
Comments (3)If the motor is mounted inside the housing, @ full blast it will not be quiet. You can have a motor installed in the attic space that will virtually eliminate the noise, however this can get pricey and your budget will not allow for this type of installation. I have a Faber 36" rated at 400 cfm and it is very reasonable on low, not too bad on medium, however sounds like a freight train on high. A bit annoying sometimes, however it does get the job done....See MoreThermador® Professional Built in Microwave-Stainless Steel-MB30WP
