Comments (6)Rudbeckia hirta/black-eyed Susan 'Cherry Brandy' is an annual, not a perennial as many believe. The link below takes you to Swallowtail Garden Seeds' website photo of 'Cherry Brandy' but they sell the seeds as annuals. It's true that R. hirta is a rampant self-seeder but the plants are actually annuals and live for a single season. I checked Santa Rosa Gardens website and 'Cherry Brandy' is clearly noted as an annual. Here's the link I copied and pasted: http://www.santarosagardens.com/Rudbeckia-hirta-Cherry-Brandy-p/rud-che.htm ellenr - sorry you're disappointed with the performance/color/longevity of your Cherry Brandy rudbeckia. I've noticed & been disappointed to find there are short-lived perennials gone missing from my beds after a season or two. Here is a link that might be useful: Swallowtail Garden Seeds...See Morerecieved order from santa rosa gardens
Comments (16)I agree with above - don't do anything. The price was low, with care the plant should do fine, you got something else for free. If this nursery had a reputation for ripping people off - then I would complain, but from what I've read about them, they don't. I tend to be very loyal to companies and businesses I like and ones that have treated me well in the past. If every once in a while something I purchase from them isn't quite what I had hoped it to be, I'm willing to cut them some slack. If I truly believe they did their best, I can deal with that. I want them to stick around. If bad products or services becomes the norm - well - that's a different story. I'll dump them without a second thought. Comments (10)I noticed they have sedum "Vera Jameson" - I've been looking all over town for that for years, used to be readily available but not anymore. So I ordered 4 of that, plus a few "Virgin" coneflower. I have been enjoying "Virgin" in my garden, bought them locally on a whim at end of season blowout last season. Haven't seen nice specimens locally this year (the ones I saw yesterday at the nursery looked like they had aster yellows), so I added a few to my shopping cart this evening. Got 7 plants total for a little under $30, and that includes shipping. I normally have no patience for small mail-order plants, but these aren't "must haves" for prominent spaces, so I can wait for them to fill in. I may put the three "Virgin" in one big hole to make a big plant - not sure yet :0)...See Moredanielleinspokane
