It was a dark and stormy...2 nights

Heavy rain high winds
a chorus of peepers
night music

6" rain in 2 nights and a day and heavy wind, we came through o.k.
The coast is not so lucky, there are massive power-outages all along this County's coastline, my internet was off and on and off and slow, just like the old days of dial-up.
The pond is as full as it can get, it will look nicer once the silt settles, this way it always reminds me of latte.
There is a break today, some sun, some showers and a light breeze,
tomorrow we will be treated to storm #3 and, according to the weather wizards it will cross directly overhead of my location,
so the hatches will have to stay battened.
The rain is most welcome, but I would have taken it in smaller installments for perhaps more consecutive days, not all at once.
The wind not so much.

Hi Lilo, Glad to "see" you here. Drying out is good after a storm and the after rain smell. Hope all is well and not too much work to get it all back in order. Temp is 91 and windy here today so diversity in Cal. is alive and present. No more than a few sprinkles here the last couple of weeks.

.This new place is getting mixed reviews including from me. One benefit hopefully will be more traffic on the individual GW forums. Hope the new traffic is good people that will add to the community.

Yes a dark and stormy 24 hours, and they say another storm will come in tomorrow.
Our oranges are almost ripe and they are flying off the tree. Everything is ok.

Jim, it does not look like this storm will add to the snowpack.

Most of the blooms are decent size. They're not large. Think Black Magic size. The foliage is large but very glossy deep green. New growth is a deep burgundy. Here a pic of a fully open bloom. .

Lilo, is flooding not a problem b/c of your elevation? 6" of rain in two days, with more to come, sounds like a Rx for disaster!

I keep thinking Mother Nature is just telling us she's the one in charge!

It could be that mother nature is in charge, but it goes back to the adaptability of us humans to adapt to our environment.
I think lilo has adapted extremely well, and made things work.

I am weather channel hopping between the East and the West Coast, watching the situation in New England (family) and you Californians. Seems right now the rain just drains off to the coast and leaves nothing for later.

As you can see from Lil's pond the soil goes with the water and sometimes in large chunks of the landscape.

Looking forward to new piks of Lilo and Joanne pedaling the boat around out there. Perhaps with a duck or some other critter sitting on the bow.

Our soil make-up is such that mud is not a problem, it's silt - erosion that eats up the soil, in summer the soil is like a fine talcum powder, makes for a lot of dust where there are bare spots. A difficult soil to garden in, best with raised beds or in containers.
