Paint colour help for new small apartment, part 2
Comments (12)Finally, we have pictures! Photo taken before the apartment was fixed and painted. Window is much taller, hidden here by a blind. Faces north. Dresser. It's twin will go in the wall-to-wall closet on the opposite side of the window wall. Wall light. Three of these will be wired together to replace a large, ugly square wall scone. Heirloom bedside table. Small area rug. The background is barely yellow. Blue clouds painting (above bed?) Proposed bedroom layout. Missisng is a photo of the armoire. It's old, plain and of the same medium brown as the dresser. Shelves above the bedside table. A wall of shelves (or three bookcases) on wall opposite bed (I've got over 1,000 books; they have to go wherever there's space). Top shelf will hold my collection of antique Paddington Bears. What looks like a box under the window is a short storage bench; it will have a cushion top and a hole on the side for my shy cat to hide in. It's white. Still need bed linen ... and colour for walls!...See More2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!
Comments (163)I love this kitchen!! I love the character and the timelessness with so many of today's great features that we all want. I have been planning a kitchen remodel for what feels like 2 years now and my layout is very similar with the exception to the amount of space you have to the left of your double wall ovens. Thank you for all the detailed pictures as this validates a lot of my current layout choices, especially the corner of your sink wall / cooking wall where I've been back and forth 100 times and where your double ovens are located!!...See MoreCheap and cheerful oddball dining room help
Comments (43)Thanks for the rug feedback! The colors turned out great, bright but vintagey feeling. Perfect for me. nosoccermom, I don't NEED all that furniture...but I kind of WANT all that furniture. Especially the freakin sweet coffee table. sueb, the main reason is that the main traffic path of the house cuts through by the table there. And kitchen stools back up to it. So it seems that ending the rug with the table kinda works? Also I have having a problem with getting enough rug in behind the chairs on the right without ending a rug right in the middle of the path from the laundry room to the kitchen. So it seemed to work to pull the rug all the way over to the wall on that side even though it's a bit oversized really. My house has no center hall or staircase, really no hallways at all, so all traffic goes through the rooms on either side. It's kind of confusing and people always get lost, which is impressive considering our main floor is less than 1000 square feet. My non-declawed cats destroy all upholstered things and most rugs, but they are cute. Comments (36)Take a look at SW Restrained Gold and Blonde. Those are nice honey golds without being too brassy. Glidden Water Chestnut is also nice with blue. As for the stone, it may work with a new paint color, but if not go neutral with it and let that be the accent wall. You don't want to have competing focal points. The carpet is such a striking color that you may not need an accent wall though. Perhaps just a nice large piece of art or some really dynamic fabric. I would definitely paint the woodwork and paint the adjoining dining area the same color. You can set a nice tablescape with colorful place settings for some pizzazz. And i would absolutely change the light fixture in there. There are lots of affordable options out there. I attached some fabric swatch ideas using restrained gold and blonde. Enjoy decorating your new place....See Morerobo (z6a)
