Gritty Granite: low quality?

Hi Everyone,

I've read some old GW threads that say to try steel wool for newly installed granite that feels gritty. But I also googled around and found some answers that say that grittiness is a result of a low quality slab. Is this true? These same people say that there is nothing you can do-- it's just a bad slab.

Granite (colonial cream) was installed a few weeks ago. After cleaning, the counters feel fine but soon an all over grittiness appears back on all the surfaces.

The fabricator sealed at install. We have no backsplash so it's not grout dropping down from curing...

So what to do? Steel wool? or cry?
